The Coffee House was opened in 1907 by Dutch immigrants and their American wife. They started serving ground coffee and brewed tea from their home. From there, they became an institution in the community and eventually began selling coffee beans to other businesses and individuals. In 1924, they opened up a second location called The Shop which continued to serve coffee until 1975 when it closed down for unknown reasons.

The town was formed in 1892 when the railroad came through and platted what is now Seguin. The name "Seguin" comes from Spanish meaning "safe place." The first post office in Seguin was established in 1893. In 1907, Seguin incorporated as a village. When oil was discovered in 1931, the population grew rapidly and by 1960 had reached 2,000 people. A large oil refinery was built here during the 1950s but it closed down in 1984 after many years of operations. In recent years, Seguin has seen a resurgence with several new businesses opening up including an arts center called Artscape and two restaurants: Joe's Place and Roy's Silverado Cafe. A new shopping mall called The Mall has been built nearby and will bring more businesses to town as well as housing for local families who have left the downtown business district over recent years for various reasons such as crime or lack of affordable homes.

Seguin is a small town in the US state of Texas located about 15 miles east of Dallas. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Seguin is one of the most isolated towns in the country and has no railroad tracks nearby to help it connect with other parts of the world. The town's only connection to outside world comes via its few roads which are mostly gravel and dirt. The first settlers in Seguin were Native Americans who came from Canada around 1825. They were followed by Englishmen in 1829 and then Mexicans in 1830-31. In 1835, Seguin became a post office and began to receive mail from San Antonio, TX but no mail arrived from Seguin until 1840 when an express train started carrying mail between those two cities every week. By 1850, there had been enough development in Seguin so that a school was built (the present day First Baptist Church) and a Methodist church was also built soon afterwards. In 1861, Texas seceded from Mexico and SeGuin became an American territory under US jurisdiction. It remained so until 1912 when it joined what was nowtx as the Republic of Tejas (a merger of seven Mexican states). After World War I ended, much of north Texas became available for Anglos to settle because it had become ranchland or agricultural production shifted south due to Mustangs running off into Mexico during prohibition years (1920-1924). Migration increased after WWII as oil discoveries made eastern Texas more attractive than west Texas for farm labor; however many farmers turned their attention away from farming altogether instead concentrating on booming new medical technology industries such as plastics making and aircraft manufacturing that mushroomed during this time period[1]. During these times there were sporadic protests against integrationist policies being pursued by local white supremacists led by JF Rourke(1930s-1940s), ranchers/ Boomtown mayor Harry Bartlett(1945-1950s), Starling City banker Harvey Cox(1955-1960)[2],and businessmen Floyd Dellums(1965-)umbrella manger Dick Cheney[3], along with BLM agent Don Armstrong[4] while African Americans experienced little change either within or withoutSeGuin itself.[5][6] After demographic changes thanks to waves of migration throughout subsequent decades Hispanics have increasingly moved into westernmost portions while African Americans have dispersed throughout easternmost portions; both communities continue working togetheralbeit through different channels managing various aspectsof social life including healthcare[7]. Today Hispanic residents make up nearly 60%ofSeGuins’ population while African American residents make up less than 10%. Little progress has been made since Latinos formed majority status within just 25 years following past patterns where they outnumbered African Americans approximately three times before surpassing them recently through natural growth rates alone . However recent city development plans [8],[9] involving mixeduse/ commercial/ residential projects may finally bring some levelheaded change though despite objections voiced by some business owners
In 1881, the first post office in Seguin was established. In 1907, the city was incorporated and named for Sam Houston. The name was changed to Houston in 1938 and then to Dallas in 1945.
