The Air Force has a long and storied history in Sugar Land, Texas. The city is home to the USAF's largest airbase, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, and the city’s military community grew up around it. The first time the Air Force flew in Texas was on January 8, 1915 when Aéronautique Française flying an observation balloon over Lafayette Park spotted an American aviation unit training at Fort Sam Houston. The USAAF scrambled a plane from Langley Field to take pictures of the students. This was the beginning of aerial warfare in Texas. In World War II, Sugar Land became one of America's key bombing targets due to its strategic location on I-10 corridor between Dallas and Austin. It also played a significant role in Korea War as an important supply depot for both sides. In recent years, the USAF has made Sugar Land its main bases for operations in Central America and Southwest Asia. In addition to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, another majorbase is Wright-Patterson AFB which houses two wings ofthe US Air Forces Central Command (CENTCOM). These two locations together make up NAS Travis AFB which is world's largest active installation ofthe USAF's X-band radar system and second largest operation center after Whiteman AFB Missouri USA . Other major installations include: Ramstein AB Germany; Lackland AFB TX; Edwards AFB CA; McGuire AFB NJ; Incirlik AB Turkey; and Seymour Johnson AFB NC,. All these installations support worldwide deploymentsof more than 50 thousand Wing members from diverse origins

The Air Force has a long history of giving back to the community in Sugar Land, Texas. In 1949, the Air Force began providing a bomber squadron in Sugar Land. The squadron was known as the "Tigers" and its purpose was to provide air support for American farmers in the region. Over time, the unit grew and became one of the most powerful stationed in Texas. In 2001, Air Force Base Sugar Land was opened and it became home to two wings of fighter planes- One from RAF Lakenheath and one from RAF Marham. This gave new life to the Tiger Squadron and their mission changed from providing air support to providing aircraft parts for other units at Air Force Base Sugar Land. The squadron continues to serve today as part of Fighter Wing 137th FRS along with other members ofthe 408th Airlift Squadron which provides airlift services for various missions throughout southeast Texas including Temple University Airport near Dallas, Love Field Airport near Houston, Midway Airport outside Ft Worth, Bush Intercontinental Airport outside Austin/Dallas etc...
Sugar Land is a city in Collin County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,643 at the 2010 census. Sugar Land is located on the Brazos River and bordered by Waco to the east and north, Round Rock to the west, and Austin to the south. The first white settlers in what is now Sugar Land were Presbyterian missionaries who arrived there in 1836. In 1837, James Fenton built a small cabin on the Brazos River near present-day Jubilee Park. A year later, he laid out a town called Fentonville on his land that included all of what is now Sugar Land. The town was named for General James Fenton who had commanded Mexican soldiers during the Texas Revolution. By 1840, all of Dallas County had been organized into five townships: Brazoria (named for Governor Pedro de la Vega y Estrella), Fort Worth (named for Colonel John Houstoun), Garland (named for Bartholomew Garland Esq.), McKinney (named for Colonel James McMurtry), and San Augustine (the future Austin). By 1847, only Fort Worth remained unorganized. In 1848–49, local entrepreneur George Pemberton built a toll road from Dallas to Houston through what is now Sugar Land. The road became known as "Pemberton's Road." In 1850–51, sugar cane farmers in northeastern Baylor County started planting sugar beets in what is now SugarLand; this crop became important because it allowedDallas County to become self-sufficient with food production Rice farming began operation around this time as well and contributed significantly to development of Sugarland today. This period also saw increased trade between Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston due largely to an increase in coffee exports coming from Mexico via Referee TX Landing on Buffalo Bayou

Sugar Land is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Sugar Land is the county seat of Hidalgo County and home to the headquarters of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex’s largest government agency, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The first settlement was made on October 10, 1836 by James W. Folsom and others under the leadership of Captain John Lloyd. One hundred and fortyfive years later, on December 6, 2011, Sugar Land became one of America's fastest-growing cities with a population increase of 23%. The land that would become Sugar Land was originally part of an area known as San Jacinto de las Pulgas (Spanish for "San Jacinto los Pinoles"), which straddled present-day Hidalgo County and Tejas counties. In 1835–1836, James W. Folsom negotiated a sale with Antonio López de Herrera for 476 acres (1 km²) near what is now downtown Sugar Land. The transaction included 1 ½ miles (3 km) of water frontage on Buffalo Bayou. López de Herrera named his purchase “New Formosa” after his mother’s birthplace in Spain—an early Spanish Settlement in Nueva Galicia (now Galicia), northwest Portugal. The land lay within present-day Houston City limits when it was sold to Folsom; however, Houston annexed much of San Jacinto de las Pulgas shortly thereafter. In 1839–1840 José María Morelos y Pavón purchased 640 acres (2 km²) from George Kendell along Buffalo Bayou for $4 per acre ($10 per hectare). This addition to New Formosa increased its size from 2 square miles to 9 square miles (). Morelos y Pavón attempted to settle this new land by building a fort and naming it La Isla del Poniente ("The Island Overhead"). When Mexico achieved independence from Spain in 1846, La Isla del Poniente reverted back into Spanish hands until Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna ceded it back to Spain on November 26 that year pursuant to Treaty #48 between Mexico and Great Britain(& France). It took until 1849 before MexicanCaptain José María Morelos y Pavón located a better site for his future capital city - El Paso - so he abandoned plans for La Isla del Poniente after only two months' exploration because he did not have enough money to build an actual fortification against American attack should their forces cross Buffalo Bayou southward into Mexican territory.(Morelos y Pavón had been offered $20 million dollars by Ulysses S Grant if he could find suitable property east of Sam Houston Park.)El Paso ultimately became America's most successful presidio
