By 1861 Moller had achieved such success that he purchased an additional 1,500 acres (500 hectares) on Clear Fork Creek which were used for growing corn and cotton plantations until 1865 when they were transferred to his son John Acheson Moller Sr.'s ownership binlery company Dennison Cotton Planters Trust Company Limited Partnership Patent No 448818 filed on February 3rd 1865 covering all 10 tracts from Clear Fork Creek southward to Buffalo Bayou toeing eastwesterly terminus at milepost 27 on I-10

Sugar Land, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Montgomery County. The population was 2,829 at the 2010 census. Sugar Land is the most populous city in Montgomery County and the fourth-largest city in Texas. The first European to visit what is now Sugar Land was Juan de la Faja on October 28, 1563, during his trip from Mexico City to Corpus Christi on behalf of Admiral Christopher Columbus. Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés also visited Sugar Land in 1565 while on his way from Mexico City to Santa Fe with Francisco Pizarro for assistance against Native American resistance efforts. In 1836, Houston became the capital of Texas after it was founded by General Antonio López de Santa Anna and Colonel James Bowie; and due to its strategic location along the San Jacinto River, Sugarland became an important military and economic center during this time period as well as becoming a major cultural center within Mexican American culture and society. In 1865, Kansas Territory was established under United States jurisdiction following the Kansas–Oklahoma Rebellion; as part of this new territory, sugar beet production within territorial boundaries increased significantly because sugar cane could not be grown there without special permission from Washington D.C.; so much so that by 1867 New Orleans had become world's largest sugar exporting port thanks largely to shipments going through Harvey's Bayou near present day Fort Worth (now Arlington).
