The Air Force gift history in Terrell, Texas began with the donation of a Boeing 707 airplane to the military in 1941. The plane served as an air traffic controller and was used for training purposes. In 1949, the Air Force donated a second 707 airplane to the town. The aircraft served as a daycare and kindergarten center before it was donated to the town in 1978. Since then, the Air Force has donated over 100 airplanes and helicopters to Terrell. Some of these planes and helicopters have been used for military purposes such as combat missions or providing comfort services to civilians. Additionally, the Air Force has given many school children and families opportunities to experience aviation through flying tours or training flights.

Roosevelt as the United States Strategic Air Forces. Today, the USAF has more than 1,000 bases and operates more than 100 bombers and fighter jets. In addition, the USAF has a number of satellites that provide imagery and other reconnaissance services to military commanders around the world.
The Texas Air National Guard's (TANG) 143rd Airlift Wing provides airlift support to Combatant Commands in the Texas and Mexico regions. The wing has a rich history dating back to World War II, when it was activated as the 9th Fighter Squadron at Fort Worth Army Air Station. In 1945, the squadron was redesignated the 10th Fighter Squadron and moved to Brownsville Army Air Station. The 144th Bombardment Squadron arrived from RAF Fakenham in England in 1946 and became part of TANG. In 1951, TANG received its first KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft and became a fully operational wing. In 1976, TANG received its first Boeing 747 Aircraft for use as an aerial refueling tanker squadron. From 1987 through 1992, TANG underwent renovation that included new hangars, barracks and supporting infrastructure.The 143rd Airlift Wing currently operates Boeing 757 aircraft as an aerial refueling tanker squadron providing combat fuel worldwide with mission capabilities including: CONUS – essential mobility for Joint Task Force Southwest Pacific; CENTCOM – global airlift operations across CENTCOM theaters; SOUTHWEST PACIFIC - Multinational Transport Command strategic transport needs outside of Japan/South Korea; EUROPE - NATO missions in Central Europe; Middle East - airlift support to Operation Noble Eagle; SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - Regional command center for California airspace defense activities On September 12, 2006, a Beechcraft KingAir 350 cargo plane carrying military supplies crashed near Terrell after experiencing engine trouble minutes before takeoff from George Bush Intercontinental Airport en route to Luke AFB in Arizona. All 5 passengers died on board: four servicemen (members of the United States Marine Corps Reserve)and one civilian employee of Prescott Airlines who had been flying as passenger number 615.[1]
Terrell is a small town in Palestine County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Beaumont-Port Arthur Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Terrell was first settled by Anglo-American Texans in 1836 during the era of the Republic of Texas. The town's name came from James Fenton, who named it after General David Ewing's Creek Valley ranch just outside mission work in present day Palestine County. A store and post office were both built there in 1839 by pioneers looking for new land to settle and grow crops on following the Santa Fe Trail. In 1850, US Army Captain Nathaniel Lyon decided to establish an Indian trading post near what is now Terrell and laid out a forts on Brushy Hillock Creek and Pecos River with cannons to protect his soldiers from attack by Comanche Indians living near Fort Richardson across the Rio Grande from Mexico City. The post was called Fort Lyon until it was renamed Fort Worth in 1855 due to growing American influence over much of Mesoamerica at that time. Mexican forces attacked Fort Lyon on April 26, 1861 while American forces were besieging Mexico City; all but two Americans were killed or wounded (the commander went into hiding). In 1865–1866 white settlers arrived here seeking free land after being rejected by the Texas Land Office when they applied for admission into the Union as a newly formed state during Reconstruction – many of them veterans of the Mexican war who had fought against Mexico under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. The railroad reached Terrell in 1881, becoming one of its main economic engines with mills lining Brushy Hillock Creek throughout most of this period until Chatfield Damdestroyed water levels rendering milling operations uneconomical around 1950s & 1960s & 1970s flooding which destroyed some residential properties along creek banks http://www.terrelltxonlinecom/archives/term2a1b1c1d1/?pid=search&docId=term_view&state=TX
Air Force gift history goes back to the early days of the Air Force. The first jets were bought by the Air Force in 1937, and since then, the Air Force has purchased a number of different types of aircraft. Some of these planes have seen action in World War II, while others have been used for training and research. In recent years, new types of aircraft have become available, such as the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter. This plane is incredibly advanced and has received a lot of criticism from some members of the military community. However, many generals believe that it will be an important tool in our military’s arsenal for many years to come. One air force officer who has played a significant role in this purchase process is Lt. Gen. James Hartsfield. He served as Chief Master Sergeant at Shaw AFB from 1984-1988 and was responsible for purchasing most of the fighter planes that eventually became part of Operation Desert Storm. Since his time at Shaw AFB, General Hartsfield has also been involved with various aspects of Project Arrowhead which includes managing Lockheed Martin’s development on the F-15 Eagle fighter jet program and ensuring that all weapons systems are fielded successfully during exercises worldwide. In addition to his responsibilities within the army and air force communities, General Hartsfield is also a very experienced politician who has served as Governor of Nevada twice (2003-2007) and United States Senator from Nevada (2006-2010). He knows how to get things done in Congress, which is why he is oneof America’s leading politicians when it comes to Defense spending issues or aviation funding matters specifically.

Terrell was founded in 1878 by a group of men from Texas who were looking for a new place to settle. The town had been abandoned by the previous residents, and the men set about building a new community. The town quickly became known for its cattle drives, which led to its nickname "The Cattle Kingdom." Terrell also became well-known for its agriculture, as it was one of the few places in Texas that grew cotton. In 1916, Terrell hosted the first international watermelon festival in Texas.
The town of Terrell, Texas was founded by German immigrants in 1853. The town became a cotton plantation center and experienced significant growth during the 1930s as a result of the Great Depression. However, Terrell's fortunes began to decline after World War II when the war led to a reduction in crop production and an increase in jobs in nearby Houston. In the 1970s, Terrell experienced a resurgence as a bedroom community for Houston.
