The Marine Corps has been deploying gifts to the people of Uvalde, Texas for more than sixty years. The tradition began with a small gift store on Republic Boulevard in downtown Uvalde. In 1951, Marines stationed at Camp Mabry opened their own gift shop, which continues to this day. When the Marines left San Diego in 1945, they brought with them a culture of giving and appreciation. They were well-known for their philanthropy and believed that every person had a right to happiness and security. This philosophy was embodied by General James Mattis when he served as Commandant of the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps has always been committed to Readiness for War – or REFOR – since its inception in World War I. It has always played an important role in our society by providing Soldiers and Sailors with the tools and training necessary for success during wartime. Today, there are over 200 military branches within the United States Military including the Marines. As we enter into another war cycle, it is important that we remember how grateful we are for all those who serve our country both at home and abroad.

Uvalde, Texas is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,933 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Midland County. Uvalde is located on the Uvalde River and it is also home to the lone mission in Midland County. The town was founded by Edward Crain in 1872 as Cedarvale and incorporated as a city on November 15, 1903. The name "Uvalde" comes from an early Spanish term meaning "a well-watered valley". In 1907, City Engineer Noble S. Hill recommended that the name be changed to honor General Felix Rodriguez y Ulloa who had helped liberate Mexico from Spanish rule while stationed in Corpus Christi at Fort Sam Houston during World War I. On October 25, 1907 Mayor Emmett J. Shults opened the first store in what would become Midland County with $2 worth of goods - groceries and hardware - for sale to residents of Cedarvale and other adjacent towns which then formed part of Uvalde's jurisdiction including present day Lubbock and Phantom Lake. In 1924, City Administrator Wanda Denton proposed that all of present-day Midland County be annexed into Uvaldo Limits which would have included Lubbock but no phantom lake community; this proposal failed to receive approval from the city council although it did gain support from Mayor Shults who wanted annexation because he felt that his home town needed more development than what was available within its limits alone On December 6, 1968 Mayor Shults announced plans to annex all of present day Lubbock into Uvaldo Limits effective January 1st 1969 with effect until a vote by the City Council could be taken regarding annexation into another municipality or until such time as enough residents voted against annexation for it to be repealed . Annexation became an official policy with future council meetings taking place around this time providing citizens with information about what was happening . The first annexation meeting occurred on January 3rd 1969 when annexation votes were taken pertaining to both Lubbock and Phantom Lake communities . Present day Midland County became one municipality within Uvaldo Limits with its own government consisting of a mayor and six members who met monthly inside City Hall; these meetings are still used today as a means for governing municipal decisions made within boundaries Annexation has resulted in increased development opportunities for residents withinMidlandCounty – both economically and geographically – making it one of its most vibrant municipalities today There are two universities located within midlands TX: Texas A&M University (Athletic Campus) & Rice University(Main Campus). There are also several businesses based out of town such as Alliant Energy Services (ELECTRICITY), First American Bank (BANKING), Coca Cola Refreshment Co., Inc.(Coca Cola Bottled Water), Wells Fargo Bank (BANKING), USAA Insurance Agency (INSURANCE). In addition there are numerous parks located throughout town including State Fair Park (Fairs/Parades), Municipal Stadium Park (Hockey/Basketball Games/Attractions), Clear Creek Oaks Golf Course (), Ballpark Village (.5 Miles From Town Center) & Elmhurst Place (.7 Miles From Town Center).

Their history goes back to 1798 when they were first organized as a volunteer regiment known as “The Riflemen”. Since then, the Marines have fought in every major conflict in which the United States has been involved. They are also known for their strong sense of discipline and self-reliance, which has helped them become one of America’s most respected units. In 1915, the Marines became part of World War I effort and served with distinction until 1918. They returned to duty in 1921 but were renamed The Reserve Infantry Regiment (AIR). In 1933, AIR was reactivated as The Marine Corps Reserve and was redesignated as The 1st Battalion Marine Regiment on December 15th that year. On July 4th 1941, America entered World War II and within weeks had activated 2nd Battalion Marine Regiment at Quantico Naval Base Virginia Beach California under command of Colonel James O’Donnell commanding 3rd Marine Division nicknamed “Dirty Dozen” because so many marines had died during Pearl Harbor attacks on December 7th 1941 Many Marines who served during World War II are buried at Arlington National Cemetery along with their unit commanders and generals including General Douglas MacArthur who led American forces into Japan surrendering

Uvalde, Texas is a town located in west-central Texas. The community was founded in 1871 by husband and wife team of pioneers, the Uvalde Brothers. The name “Uvalde” means “place where the water flows.” For more than 100 years, Uvalde has been a center for cotton production and other important activities in west-central Texas. Today, Uvalde is an agricultural community with a population of over 4,000 people. The town was founded on the banks of the Colorado River by brothers Antonio and David Uvalde. They named their new settlement after General John Fenton who had helped lead their father to victory against Mexico at San Jacinto in 1836. The Baptists from nearby Lubbock joined forces with the Uvaldes early on and soon started cultivating cotton plantations along the riverbanks. By 1860, there were 1,500 residents living in Uvalde; by 1870, that number had grown to 5,000+. In 1871 Francisco Ramirez became the first Hispanic settler in Uvaldo when he arrived from Comal County Spain with his family following Mexican independence from Spain. Ramirez built himself a cabin near what is now Main Street while working on his farmstead across the river from what would later become known as Town Hall Square (now Reynosa Plaza). In 1872 Ramirez married María de la Concepción Torres y Sánchez who also came from Comal County Spain with her family. From this marriage sprang four children: José Agustín Ramírez; María del Carmen Torres y Sánchez; Francisco Javier Ramos y Alvarez; and Rosa Isabel Ramos y Arellano (later president of Bexar County TX). It was through these families that many aspects of town life were born including religious services conducted outdoors on Saturday mornings until well into Sunday night followed by dinner at home before watching local rodeos provided entertainment for everyone living within easy enough distance including some 80 miles away! The first schoolhouse was built near present day Main Street in 1872 using logs brought overriver by one of Antonio’s brothers as part of his effort to start up a cotton plantation close to home! This brick building still stands today serving as United Methodist Church #2 which served as our historicaluel library until it burned down in 1954! In addition to educational opportunities available outside of schools during those days many young men went off to work on local farms starting out as boys around age 12 or 13 years old helping out their fathers till all fields needed harvesting then going off again each week doing various tasks such as picking crops or driving teams of oxen or horses pulling wagons carrying goods back and forth between homes etc…. These days we have our own Post Office Box & ZIP Code– 78622!!
