The station served as a lifesaving center and until 1976 it was the only Coast Guard Station in Weslaco. In 1984, the Weslaco harbor was closed due to high levels of salt water intrusion from offshore oil platforms. As a result, the Coast Guard Station was moved to Corpus Christi and became known as Headquarters-Athletic Department. In 1992, Coastal Command transferred its command from Headquarters-Athletic Department to Coastal Command District 5 in Weslaco. In September 2002, Headquarters-Athletic Department merged with First Marine Division’s Base West Point and became Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron One (HHH 1). Since then, HHH 1 has been responsible for all aspects of coastal protection including law enforcement, security operations, public relations and special events management for both Marines stationed at West Point and civilians working at USCG Base West Point. On October 1st 2006 Headquarters-Athletic Department merged with United States Customs Service’s Port of Entry Security Force located adjacent to US Customs House which had been vacant since 2003 when USCG vacated their facilities on Ibañez Street side of US Customs House in order to construct an addition for their Depot Annex which opened in late 2007. On January 1st 2009 United States Customs Service’s Port of Entry Security Force amalgamated with Homeland Security Investigations’ Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detachment 8 who operated out of US Customhouse since 2002 when ICE separated FROM CBP on Ponce de Leon Street across from HMIS Building. This made HSIS the first law enforcement agency ever authorized by DHS within Buffalo Bayou City limits!

Wesleyco is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas, located about 25 miles (40 km) south of Austin on I-35W. The population was 7,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and is surrounded by Arlington County to its east and west, Collin County to its north, Denton County to its northeast, and Trinity County to its southeast. When first settled in 1836 by George Weslaco and his family from Connecticut, Wesleyco was known as "Westville" because it lay west of the Slaughter Branch of the Brazos River. In 1868, Wesleyco became part of Arlington County when that county was created from parts of Collin and Denton counties. In 1901, Wesleyco voters approved a school district with a permanent building which would serve all residents in the unincorporated community within 1 mile (1 km). That same year, they also approved a $5 per capita tax for school purposes which funded both primary and secondary education for those living in the community until 1944. The $5 levy served as the town's sole form of taxation until 1984 when it was raised to $10 per capita effective January 1st following passage of Proposition 184 which amended Texas Constitution § 3(a). The proposition also increased property taxes throughout much OFtx., raising an estimated $135 million between 1984-2013 alone The current high school opened in 2009 after many years planning and construction under then Mayor Art Acevedo who has been charged with various corruption charges including bribery/corruption conspiracy/mischief damage/evidence tampering

Weslaco was founded in 1836 by Methodist missionaries, and is the oldest town in Texas. The first store in Weslaco was built on Main Street. It served as the town's commercial center until the early 1800s when a post office was established. The first school in Weslaco opened in 1837 and became the local public school system. In 1851, General Sam Houston purchased land adjacent to what is now Weslaco for a cotton plantation known as Houston's Hundred Acres. The area became known asHouston Heights after Houston acquired most of the property. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln issued an Executive Order creating Baylor University within Texas Widespread Panic Records album cassette In 1865, General John C. Frémont marched through Texas with his army during the American Civil War and discovered oil reserves near present day Weslaco. Frémont named his new township "Wesleyan" after Wesleyan College which he had visited while touring West Virginia earlier that year. In 1886, construction began on Alamo Stadium, one of college football's earliest stadiums and seating over 100 people including players and coaches from both Baylor University (now Rice University) and Texas A&M Aggie universities at what is now Minute Maid Park in Dallas-Fort Worth
