Weslaco, Texas is a small town in the Mexican state of Coahuila. The population was 3,868 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Weslaco-Edinburg-Mission Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name Weslaco comes from "Wesley" and "Laco". If one were to ask an Indian it would be difficult to say what the word means because there are many derivations and interpretations. According to some sources, Wesley was a white man who came to this area in 1853 and named it after himself; however, others believe that Lacco was also a white man who visited this area in 1853 and named it after his rancho (property). In any case, when Wesley arrived in this area he founded a Methodist church which soon became very popular. In 1907, local farmers decided to build a new town on their land east of the old Methodist church. The town's first building was erected on the site of present day Weslaco High School. That same year, Weslaco incorporated as a village under the laws of Coahuila. On December 1st, 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9706 which established Judd County as county seat for Coahuila and ordered all offices within Judd County closed until further notice so that people could move into new counties created by order of Roosevelt. This order had far-reaching consequences because most people within Judd County chose not to leave their homes because they felt they had no choice but to comply with government orders or face confiscation of their property or imprisonment. As towns started popping up throughout Mesilla Valley throughout 1907, residents began moving out of Weslaco into communities such as Edinburg and Mission due to lack of jobs or other opportunities closer than Bandera Valley where most people lived at that time. By 1912 only about 100 residents remained in Weslaco limits while 515 people lived in Edinburg limits and 350 lived in Mission boundaries including those within present day McKinney County! In 1915 when Brownsville became an official city Limits included within McKinney County we can see that population growth had resumed outside thoselimits! The following year saw another outburst growth when businessmen decided to build an oil refinery adjacent to existing cotton fields making Weslaco one of the leading oil refineries in America during this time period! Businessmens continued expanding production until 1938 when WWII interrupted production resulting in plant closure followed by high prices for gasoline causing many families unable or unwilling to return home during wartime years! On January 15th 1951 Mayor Oscar Kemp opened up Memorial Park located northwest corner Of Central Avenue And Elm Street To The Public For Recreation purposes After Years Of Request From Residents Who Wanted A Park Near Their Homes!. At First This park Was Only accessible To Members Of City Council But With Continued Growth Andpopular demand It Was Opened Up To All !!Today memorial park includes Playground With Restrooms And A Pool!!

It is said that beans were brought back to Greece by Pythagoras and spread through hisphilosophy before being discovered in India. The first evidence of coffee being brewed as a beverage comes from the 6th century BC when Ptolemy wrote about an Indian drink called kopi-kami which he claimed was made from ground beans taken from the Coffee Bean Plant (Cephalandra writinga). In 525 BC, Hippocrates described black peppermint water as “coffee” for the first time. This drink soon became popular throughout the Mediterranean region and eventually reached North America where it was enjoyed by Native Americans. The Egyptians are credited with developing a type of ground coffee known as qat or cedar syrup used for making tea and other beverages such as milk and beer. Coffee beans were also traded with Mesopotamia and Syria where it was used to make wine and ointment. In 1775, General George Washington tasted some of this espresso while on his trip to Italy where he remarked that it had a very strong flavor. The French began importing large quantities of coffee beans in 1825 after they discovered how valuable these plants could be for their manufacture of petitgrain (the small town near Paris started using this name for its own exports) . By 1830, French cafes serving roasts of whole bean coffees became common throughout Europe due to advances in brewing technology at that time. In 1847, Baron Frédéric Bazin patented an invention which allowed brewers to roast their own coffee without using any ground beans whatsoever. This system allowed them to produce a finer quality cup of coffee than ever before and allowed them to become more competitive against Spanish roasters who still relied on ground beans. By 1912, Dutch roasters had developed their own method for grinding all types of Beans into fine powder form so they could use this method instead of buying whole beans direct from Arab traders

Weslaco is a city in and the county seat of Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The name Weslaco originated from an Old Spanish word meaning "place where people gather." In 1854, three men named John Wesley Hardin, James Hogg and Charles W. Wessell traveled through Hudspeth County on their way to find a new location for their cattle ranch. They came across a prairie that they thought would be good for farming and named the spot "Wesley" after Methodist preacher John Wesley. The town started off as a small community of only 30 residents in 1855 and slowly grew over time until it reached its current size of 6,821 residents in 2000. The first post office was established in Weslaco in 1857. In 1870, Mexican settlers began arrive in what is now Hudspeth County and founded several settlements around what is now Weslaco including San Antonio de Bexar (now Austin) and El Paso del Norte (now Chiaula). When Texas acquired its independence from Mexico on Nov 22, 1836, colonists from these two settlements formed the independent Republic of Texas with headquarters located at San Antonio de Bexar. On Feb 26, 1840, Republic President Sam Houston signed an act authorizing the creation of Hudspeth County which included parts of Austin and Round Rock before becoming fully organized on March 3rd under Governor George Hance. By 1850 there were 10 resident families living in Weslaco with 350 acres (160 hectares) of land surveyed and developed by local farmers into farms totaling 1,600 acres (500 hectares). In 1860s Isaac Newton Jones built one of America's first cotton ginneries near present day Weslaco City Limits while also serving as mayor pro tem for Hudspeth County during this period; he continued to operate this plant until his death in 1896. Other early businesses located within or vicinity to today's downtown include Jarrell’s grocery store (opened 1912), A&P grocery store(1915), First National Bank & Trust Company(1925), homebuilder/landscaper Wheeler-Whitney Homes Inc.(1896-1958), Service Electric Supply CO.(1920s-1960s), Please don't call us Hwy 16 We are just local family owned business(1966-present) On November 14th 1938 Hurricane Rita swept through Houston leaving damage estimated at $40 billion according to some reports up to 90% destroyed primarily along Memorial Drive between Montrose Boulevard & Baytown Freeway making it one of Americas most devastating natural disasters ever! Property values plummeted throughout much affected areas as investors fled potential losses associated with Rita following news reports thatHouston had been selected as landfall site for Hurricane Ike! For many locals who lost everything they owned or homes were damaged beyond repair many chose to rebuild rather then sell their property again soon after upon learning about available resources such as federal funding that could be applied towards reconstruction projects! That same year Hurricane Ike made landfall just outside town limits resulting in even more devastation causing widespread power outages lasting days impacting entire communities throughout southeastern TX; recovery began almost immediately with assistance arriving via helicopters including ones donated by ExxonMobil! During this time many local businesses closed unable or unwilling to reopen due largely to lack access to quality materials such as lumber which had reopened shortly afterwards thanks largely to donations from individuals interested in helping those impacted by Katrina! Weslaco experienced significant growth following World War II when military bases were constructed nearby including Fort Bliss Army Base which opened on September 15th 1945 followed by Fort Worth Army Base on December 17th 1965 both still operating today albeit different branches within The Department Of Defense To this day!'"
