So Mr. Hogg decided to sell his business back to his original owner, John Wesley Hogg Jr., who continued running it until 1907 when he died aged 80 years old. In 1911, White Settlement became an incorporated municipality with a city government headed by a mayor and a councilor system which allowed for more local control over social aspects such as education and health care while still needing access to state services like transportation and law enforcement

White Settlement, Texas was a settlement in the United States located at the current day city of Austin, Texas. The site was purchased by the Republic of Texas in 1836 and became a part of that state. White Settlement is thought to be one of the earliest American settlements and likely predates Houston by several years. It was not until 1837 that white settlers started to arrive in greater numbers as a result of the Santa Anna Expedition. The first white building erected on what is now White Settlement was a log cabin named "The Baldy" which served as a trading post from 1837-1839.
