Coffee has been brewed in Wylie, Texas for over a century. In 1892, Dutchman Hendrik Jan van der Laan started brewing coffee in a small house on the corner of Elm and Congress Streets. The first cup of coffee was stored in a cask that was bought from an acquaintance of Van der Laan's. Coffee beans were roasted by Jan's son, Pieter, who also ran the business until his death in 1938. In 1912, Harry Smith opened the first grocery store in town and began to sell coffee. Soon after, people from around Wylie would come to buy their morning fix of caffeine at Harry Smith's. By the late 1920s and early 1930s, many businesses had opened up around town and coffee became an important part of the community life. In 1935, Wylie businessmen Dolphus Selvin and John Ahern organized a group to purchase two thousand pounds of Arabica beans from Dutch roasterij de Krummenbrug (now known as Brouwerij Ypres) for $2 per pound. They named their business The Krommende Kop (The Rising Cup). At this point, coffee was becoming more than just a morning drink; it was now an important part of local culture! Over time The Krommende Kop continued to grow and sell its unique brand of premium quality coffee all over town- even exporting some to other states! In 1978-79 The Krommende Kop merged with another local company called de Wilde Kop which lasted until 1984 when both companies merged again under the name de Wilde Kop Coffee Company Incorporated. This company continues to operate today as one of Wichita Falls' most successful independent cafes!
Wylie is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Wylie was James M. Storey in 1872. A post office called Storeyville was established in 1875, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. Wylie itself was platted on February 14, 1887 by Rufus H. Moody and Jesse Fenton under the name "Waco". A post office called Waco also served here from 1890 to 1907. The community name likely comes from a claim made by one of its pioneer merchants, Waco Wiley, that he had seen an Indian chief named Winters living near him on his farmstead during surveying work years earlier. As early as 1903, some residents were trying to bring about a town meeting so they could discuss plans for developing the area around their homes; however this failed to take hold until 1906 when leaders of three other communities withinMidland County banded together to form the Texans Land Company and begin soliciting land donations for their new town site This group consisted of such prominent citizens as J P Morgan (founder of JP Morgan Bank), John Wesley Hardin (of cattle drovers fame), Elisha Gray Otis (the founder of Houston & Texas Central Railroad) and others who believed that a thriving city would develop here if they could get enough land donated (). On July 24th 1908 vote taken at the Texans Land Company meeting allowed incorporation of Waco with a population of 350 residents; this number increased gradually over time but initialization did not officially occur until 1912 due to lack of desired approvals from other jurisdictions (). In 1916 after several attempts naming officers including “Mayor” only “Vice President” received votes they settled on Denton McDermott as officer-in-Charge effective September 1st 1916

Wylie, Texas is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,553 at the 2010 census. Wylie was founded by Alexander McMillin in 1871. It became an incorporated city in 1907. Wylie is located on the border of Midland and Odessa Counties and is bounded by the Comanche Hills to the east and north, the Brazos River to the west, and U.S. Route 281 to the south-west. The community was named for John Wylie (1821–1905), who came from Dent County, Kentucky in 1849 and settled near present-day Wylie in 1871 with his family. In 1907, Wylie became an incorporated city under the name of Midland City after it joined Odessa County as one of its districts. The current mayor is Tom Barrett. In 1919 Wylie hosted a World's Fair which drew over 100,000 people from all around the world; it remains one of Midland's most popular tourist attractions today.
Wylie was founded in 1872 by John Wylie and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after John's father, William Wylie. In 1915, the town became a city under the name of Wylie.
