Army gift history in Lindon, Utah began with the development of a military post in the town in 1847. The first troops arrived at Fort Bridger on July 4, 1847, and soon after started construction of the Post Office and Barracks. In 1850, General George A. Smith ordered the erection of a Tejon Blockhouse to serve as a fortification against Indian attacks. The blockhouse was completed in 1852 and served as an important symbol of defense for Lindon until it was replaced by Fort Bridger in 1903. The town's growth continued through the years with various endeavors such as irrigation projects and road building. By 1907, Lindon had become one of the most important Republican Elks communities in Utah. The city budgeted $5,000 for its first public library which opened on Valentine's Day 1907. In 1912, Mayor Jno Ewing dedicated what is now called Pioneer Hall to commemorate those who pioneer in Lindon during its early days. In 1934, World War II began andLindon quickly became known as an epicenter of wartime activity with soldiers from all over Utah marching into the town to participate in combat zones around the world. During this time, many businesses closed their doors due to lack of sales or rationing; however, many remained open during war-time shortages by providing services such as grocery shopping or housing for soldiers on base. Unfortunately, following Pearl Harbor’s attack on December 7th 1941 (the deadliest terrorist attack against American civilians since World War I), hostilities ceased abruptly without any notice to residents living outside military areas and much valuable equipment vanished without a trace leavingLindon virtually penniless once again throughout 1943-1945 . This period also saw some major changes within the local community with Mayor James W.; Payson native Edwin Hutton taking office as mayoralty starter/manager starting November 1945 after serving two terms as Vice Mayor under previous Mayor James W.; finally succeeding Mayor Ewing upon his death that year . Finally restored order returned when Army Lt Col John Tatum assumed command from Lt Col Wayne Condon effective January 1946 until relieved by Capt Jack Bigham effective February 1946 just prior to general elections that year With few exceptions most business owners either retired or sold their businesses outright during these difficult times while many young men left town for good citing poverty , unemployment rates above 50 percent (and still high today) along with other reasons like perceived discrimination practices experienced by veterans returning home post-war not only stricken but often living among hostile natives still occupying certain parts of our state - even today there are numerous challenges faced by citizens & organizations working together towards improving conditions here including expanding access to quality education & healthcare while continuing work towards creating more inclusive & representative community

Lindon, Utah is a city in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 8,405 at the 2010 census. Lindon is part of the Salt Lake City–Provo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lindon is located on the banks of the River Jordan south of Provo and east of Sandy. The original site for what became Lindon was called "Willow Grove" by settlers in 1847. The name was changed to "Lindon" in 1858 when an Indian party searching for water discovered a well there and named it after General James H. Lindenberger, commanding general of Utah Valley during the Mexican War. In 1886, local ranchers purchased land around a millstream that would become known as "Lindon Creek". A post office was established at Lindon in 1888, and remained in operation until it closed in 1924. The community first began to develop as a railroad town when the Weber-Salt Lake Railroad reached it from Ogden on May 10, 1912. By 1916 there were over 20 businesses based at or near the new station including hardware stores, bakery shops, mercantile stores and restaurant chains like Joes Chinese stand and Bob's Diner - all without any streetlights or signsifying their presence to passersby other than their names above doorways or on storefronts. Railroads were often responsible for village growth; with such an omnipresence they provided essential economic development incentives which helped drive wide-scale residential building throughout much of northern Utah during this time period (eagle-eyed readers will notice a pattern here). In 1924 Union Pacific Railway built its final line along present day I-15 south to Provo; this line linked up with Southern Railway serving eastern counties across metropolitan Salt Lake City before terminating just north of town limits at Brigham Young University's main campus complex where trains continued onto InterCity passenger service into today's Amtrak Station downtown - giving residents easy access not only to downtown Provo but also outlying suburbs like Loganville and South Jordan – something truly unique among major American cities then! With commerce now firmly entrenched within central business district boundaries (and interlocking streetscapes providing gridlocked connectivity), many businesses moved away from small towns/cities towards larger metropolises while others thrived due to annexation by adjacent municipalities – making today one highly connectedurb despite having few skyscrapers or highrise buildings within its boundaries! On December 6th 1961 Mayor Harry McKay announced plans for what would come to be known as “the mall” – an 8 acre tract located immediately northeast of present day Main Street between First Avenue South and Second Avenue North that would house over 100 local retailers including Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co., Kmart Super Center (now Macy’s), Phillips 66 (now PPL) and most importantly KB Toys which anchored what would come to be known as “The Mall” complex until 1984 when Sears went bankrupt leaving KB Toys alone inside what are now Lord & Taylor Department Store fronts while peripheral anchor tenants retained control externally via leases entitling them permission inside +/- exterior signage still displays District Name/Description rather than Mall name/Address
