Pleasant Grove is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,883 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern border of the county and is bordered by Cache Valley to the east and north, Beavercreek to the west and south, and Price City to the southeast. A small portion of Pleasant Grove extends into Carbon County. The first people to live in what is now Pleasant Grove were Native Americans who hunted game in the area. The first settlers arrived around 1875 when James Price homesteaded land near present-day Pleasant Grove Elementary School. In 1887, Brigham Young organized a group of Mormons called Hyrum’s Brigade to travel from Nauvoo to build a temple at Cumorah (now Harvey). At that time there were only about seventy Mormon families living in Kane County. On July 24, 1888,[2] Brigham Young designated Pleasant Grove as one of his townships within Salt Lake County.[3][4] In 1902, lovely Hilltop Canyon Drive was donated by Mrs. Caryl Murchison for use as a public road through town center with no residential buildings on it other than an old post office building which served as a stoplight until 1954.[5] By 1912[6], Latter-day Saint pioneers had gathered at Cedar Mesa where they built what became known as "the farm".[7][8][9] That same year their new home was constructed on lot #1 in Center Street which fronts Cedar Mesa Cemetery today. The family continued farming there until 1929 when they moved onto lot #2 adjacent to Center Street which still serves as their current house.[10][11] The Price family laid down roots heretilting crops and raising chickens until 1951 when they added slaves whom they named "Doris". When World War II began most farmers left for war but some decided to stay because things looked good after Pearl Harbor; however this changed when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor killing many people including Elder David Osmond who lived near Main Street between 1922-1943[12]. By 1945 hogs had started being raised so much that prices went up $100 per hog so Elder Orson Scott Card said: "I am told that this event has increased meat production by 50%. I believe it."[13] After years during which food prices stayed low due mostly to government support programs like wheat subsidy[14], prophet Spencer W Kimball announced during an LDS Church meeting on October 15th 1948:[15]: “We have gone too far [in subsidizing food prices]; let us come back suddenly upon these issues” resulting in then president Spencer W Kimball issuing an executive order establishing a price freeze effective January 1st 1949 limiting subsidies by 50% while also increasing cost recovery rates for producers over 3 years starting January 1st 1951 This revived interest in agriculture led later that year prices for agricultural commodities rose above regular market conditions again prompting President Heber J Grant Administration member Thomas S Monson authorize issuance of another executive order creating a marketing board with exclusive authority over all retail sales throughout Utah not just Agricultural Products subject thereto This order allowed more direct control over pricing practices thereby decreasing potential bias towards local farmers by large commercial interests

Pleasant Grove is a town in Wasatch County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Pleasant Grove was Hiram Glover in 1847. He and his family were among the first to arrive on the Promontory on December 24, 1847. In 1850, Pleasant Grove had a population of only 8 residents. In 1851, Pleasant Grove's first school was built and taught by Mrs. Ransom Calkins from Independence Township (now Davis City). In 1853, Pleasant Grove had its own post office and become an incorporated village with a population of 20 residents. In 1860, J. Wimmer became one of the incorporators for Pleasant Grove Village and served as its first Mayor until his death in 1865. A wagon road linking Cedar City to Provo was completed through Pleasant Grove in 1863 which helped increase trade between Provo and Cedar City. It wasn't until 1870 when John Wesley Smith arrived that agriculture started to take hold in this sparsely populated area with olive orchards being prominent early settlers along with cattle ranching operations starting up soon afterwards There are still a few small acreages left undeveloped today due to lack of interest from developers but many local businesses have been established around these areas such as: KFC Pizza & Chili, Church World Services Center (CWSC), LDS Business College/Utah Valley University School of Business/Utah Valley Extension School (TVEUS), major grocery store Safeway etc... In 1902-1903 Mormon pioneer Sidney Rigdon settled near where present day Utah State Prison is located; he named it after his home state – Nevada - helping contribute to the growth of what would become Salt Lake City suburbs including Harker Heights and Winterdale
