The current owners of the company are Wm. (Walt) Fenton and Ron Fletcher. The history of fresh roasted coffee goes back to 1892 when an unknown person founded a small plantation near Springville on what is now known as Mormon Mesa Avenue. From then until 1922, Elisha Payne ran this business which he named after himself and his son George Stephenson Jr.. George Stephenson Sr., also ran a grocery store next door at 5th Street and Center Street which became known as “The Coffee House” because people would come to buy fresh roasted coffee there morning and evening for their families’ use only! In 1922, Frank Hargrave purchased Mr. Payne’s business and changed its name to The Coffee House Corporation Ltd.. At Frank Hargrave’s death in 1951, his sons took over the company – Walt Fenton being one of these sons! After World War II ended, demand for fresh roasted coffee increased because so many people had returned home from serving in the military during that time! By 1970, significant new production facilities had been built just east of Springville on Mormon Mesa Avenue including two large roasting plants (the present day Franklin & Sons plant) which allowed for much more consistent quality control than was possible before! As recently as 2007, additional equipment has been added to the existing plants making them even more efficient! Today The Coffee House Corporation produces some of the very best quality freshly roasted coffees available anywhere!
