The Syracuse-Utah Coast Guard station was established in 1935. The station is one of the oldest coast guard stations in Utah and has been providing law enforcement, maritime security, and coastal protection services to the community since then. In 2013, the station upgraded its equipment and opened a new harbor access terminal.
Syracuse, Utah is located in the Wasatch Mountains, about seventy-five miles east of Salt Lake City. The town was founded in 1912 by Swedes who had come to the area during the Gold Rush. Syracuse was originally called Dutchtown and was later renamed for Syracuse, New York, the home of some of America's first farmers. In 1924, the town became a part of Ogden County and has remained that way ever since. Today, Syracuse is a small community with a population of less than one thousand people. It is known for its natural resources: coal and oil shale near its downtown core; uranium mine operations on neighboring hills; and lumber mills in the surrounding countryside. The economic backbone of Syracuse is agriculture: hay production around its outskirts; crops such as corn, beans, rice, wheat and oats grown on private land within easy distance of town; cattle ranching in southwestern corner of town; and tourism - most notably apple orchards and breweries - which helps keep the economy strong despite periodic setbacks. The church at Fourth Street & East Seventh Avenue is one of Syracuse's most significant landmarks. Built in 1892 as a log cabin-style building by pioneer settlers John Abley and his family, it soon became an important center for religious services in this remote outpost. After being used as a schoolhouse for many years before being remodeled into its current form in 1951 by architect Harry Weisbrod (1914-1998), it now houses the locally owned First Baptist Church (founded 1925) which serves as the primary cultural resource for residents across all age groups within minutes' walk from their homes.

In 1913, the first coast guard cutter was built. The cutter was used for patrols around New York City’s harbor areas. In 1916, a new station was established at Governors Island which became one of the most important chokepoints for smugglers trying to enter America from Europe. It was during this time that the Cutter Service began providing search and rescue assistance in both open water and ashore missions including rescuing people stranded on ships or when their ship went down off Long Island Sound. In 1933, an all-new destroyer escort (DE) was commissioned called “Cleveland” after then-Governor Cleveland of Ohio. This flagship destroyer escort served as a key asset of the United States Coast Guard during World War II patrol operations along American coasts from Pearl Harbor to Newfoundland; operating out of Naval Station Miami Beach on Florida’s southeast coast where she participated in more than 100 patrolsphering campaigns totaling more than 2 million miles During peacetime between World Wars I-II there were no wars declared by America so there were no military vessels available for use by Coast Guardsmen however over time equipment became available through donations or purchases by agencies such as FEMA which we now use as search & rescue helicopters when needed

In 1970, Syracuse merged with neighboring Logan to form one large city with a combined population of over 100,000 people

Syracuse first became a town on December 1, 1875. On February 4, 1896 the city passed an act incorporating as a city with a population of 10,000 people. On January 3, 1907 Syracuse organized as an incorporated village with a population of 5800 people. The village had one store and four homes. In 1912 the City Council passed an ordinance establishing streetlights in the city limits and providing for public works including water systems and sewers.
