Chesapeake is a town in and the county seat of Norfolk County, Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 757. After being captured by Admiral Montresor during a military campaign against Spain in 1741, Princess Caroline spent some time at Newport News where she entertained her Mexican captors before they sailed back upriver to Havana where they lost their ship en routemanaging to port without firing a shot despite running into multiple reefs near Accomack island while crossing an open sea off Cuba's southern coast; this incident led to Spanish complaints about British piracy which helped lead eventually to King George II becoming more supportive of Parliament’s attempt throughout much of Europe to crush royal power across most lands including North America with resulting increased taxation rates payable by American colonists culminating with revolution in Boston resolved through Stamp Act Congress Establishing govt control over colonies Aftermath: A number of small towns were established around Chesapeake including Gloucester City (now greater Petersburg), Westampton (now Frederick), Herndon (now Arlington), Suffolk (now Elizabeth City), Bealhaven(later Aberdeen) Next largest concentration still found today are within Warwick County although there has been recent growth into Northern Virginia adjacent areas including Fairfax County
