At that time, Anchor Steam Brewing Corporation began producing light beers for local consumption and marketed their product as "Anchor Steam Coffee". In 1893, Anchor Steam merged with Seattle-based brewing giant Bancroft Brewing Company (later Bayerische Lagerwerke) to form Pacific Northwest Brewing Company (later PepsiCo). During this time period Pacific Northwest Brewery produced some of the most popular brands associated with Americana including Cascade waterfalls and Westminster cigarettes (now known as Camel cigarettes). Like many other large corporations during these times, PepsiCo changed its name multiple times over the years; eventually becoming PepsiCo Inc.. In 1971, PepsiCo merged with ConAgra Foods Inc., making it one of the largest food companies in the world. Today PepsiCo operates under several different names including Coca Cola Co., Frito Lay Operations Inc., Unilever plc., Gatorade International LLC and Snapple Group USA Inc..

Anacortes is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The name Anacortes may be derived from the Spanish word "ancho" meaning long or wide and "cortés" meaning young(er). The first Europeans to visit Anacortes were members of the Vancouver Company in 1821 when they journeyed down the Columbia River. They named their landing Point George after George Vancouver, captain of HMS Discovery and an early European explorer on North America's Pacific coast. After several years, they abandoned their efforts to explore this new land because of its harsh environment and lack of supplies. In 1829, John Sutter founded the city of Seattle as a port on Puget Sound following his discovery of gold in British Columbia. He called Seattle "Anacortes." In 1854, farmers began moving into what is now Anacortes from farms near Olympia and Colville Lake for reasons that remain mysterious today: high prices for farmland due to railway construction; increasing demand for milk products thanks to Aluminum production nearby; or simply settlers looking for a better life than what they had back east. By 1870, over 10% of Anacortes' population lived in agriculture while only 3% was citizens or businesses downtown. During World War II many American troops landed at Anacortes Naval Base before being sent inland towards Tacoma or other strategic points along Washington's Central Coast facing Japan. Many sailors who would not have been able to fight overseas became engineers working on various military installations here- like turning mudflats into airstrips during amphibious assaults.; also 11 nurses who worked at Our Lady's Hospital were local residents who volunteered their time during hostilities.- One woman even ran her own bakery which continues operating today as Star Bakery Incorporated. Once again during peacetime there has been much growth with development happening mostly around Interstate 5 just outside town limits but parts closer such as Pioneer Square have seen mixed uses including office buildings (including one by Amazon) and residences mixed with agricultural land currently used for grazing animals.

Anacortes is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma Metropolitan Area. The name Anacortes comes from Spanish meaning "behind the woods" and refers to an area behind the town that had been undeveloped for years until it became relevant to the development of Tacoma during World War II. The first European settler in what would become Anacortes were two brothers who landed on Puget Sound in 1847 and founded Yelm on March 24, 1851. They named their community after Annapolis (now Annapolis Junction), Maryland because they thought it would be more convenient for traders to come through there than through Olympia or Seattle. In 1865, George Waddell built a home called Nisqually Lighthouse on land he had purchased from Elisha Cuthbert Sprague. He served as lighthouse keeper from 1865 until his death in 1902. His wife Mary served as keeper from 1868 until her death in 1922; she is buried at Nisqually Lighthouse Park. In 1886, John Augustus Marsh sold land adjacent to Nisqually Lighthouse to developers Charles Goodyear and James Forbes for $5,000 cash plus $1 per acre for 10 years; goodyear and Forbes developed the area into what is now Anacortes Marina Resort & Spa with its own golf course and harborfront property that forms part of King County's Shoreline waterfront park system In 1907 when Congress created King County as an independent county within Washington state, it also designated Anacortes as one of its three original townships; only 8 other townships were created within the new county including Everett which was annexed by Tacoma shortly thereafter Elections held on November 3rd 1912 resulted in a tie between Republican Arthur Hays of Lynnwood and Democrat Hiram Lodge Jorgan which left both men with majority control over local government without any representation from Anacorte residents
