The Coast Guard was first established in 1792 in Battle Ground, Washington. The Coast Guard was originally called the United States Marine Corps and it was created as part of the Department of War because the United States had an interest in preventing smuggling across international boundaries. In 1903, the Coast Guard began ferrying passengers and cargo between Puget Sound and Seattle. In 1915, the Coast Guard became a legal entity with its own officers and staff. The following year, the Coast Guard purchased its first ship, the SS Constitution. The USS Constitution served as both a mobile carryout unit for patrols off of Washington state's coast and also as a training vessel for future Coast Guardsmen. In 1922, Congress passed legislation that designated Washington as the "coastal border state." This designation made it mandatory for all vessels traveling within or entering Washington to display a USCG flag at all times while on board. In 1930, Congress passed another bill that authorized the purchase of two additional ships, both paddleboats. These new vessels were used for coastal security operations and helped make sure that continued commerce along America's coastline wasn't hindered by smugglers or bandits attempting to cross into Canada or Mexico from inland areas. In 1941, World War II began and many American citizens enlisted in either the Navy or Marines to fight in various theaters around Europe; however, few Americans knew about our country's coast guard until Pearl Harbor happened. On December 7th 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor resulting inPAUL LEE being one thousand prisoners-of-war held by Japan at Chitose airfield north of Tokyo Bay before they were transported back across Japan to their home island where they were used as slave labor during World War II up until 1945 when they were liberated by Allied forces

Battle Ground is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,351 at the 2010 census. Battle Ground is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. It is bordered by Shoreline to the south and east and Bellevue to the north. The town lies within the Central Puget Sound region. The first permanent settler in Battle Ground was George Winchester, who arrived in 1847. At that time it was an agricultural community with a few homes and twenty-five acres (10 ha) of land cultivated for corn, potatoes, beans and other vegetables. A post office was established in 1849, but no mail reached Battle Ground until 1861 when it became part of Junction City after that city's incorporation as a county seat. One reason for this delay may have been that wagon roads were not yet built between Seattle and Central Puget Sound before Battleground became part of Junction City limits; postal service did not arrive until 1865 when Congress created Washington Territory. In 1885, Battle Ground incorporated as a village under the name of North Bend because its founders desired to become one municipality with responsibility for all aspects of life within their boundaries including public schools and fire departments; however North Bend declined to offer services such as streetlights or Utility Districts like those enjoyed by other villages throughout King County which led to its dissolution in 1907. In 1915 during World War I there was an increase in military activity due to efforts by General John J Pershing on behalf of America's entry into war; as result many businesses closed down which had negative impact on local economies especially given that most residents commuted into Seattle for work In 1964 after fifty years without any major changes BattleGround reverted back to its original name - North Bend Village There has been some recent development over the past few years with new housing being constructed near Interstate 5 along Peachtree Street adjacent to Lake Sammamish while another large project is currently underway across from Northwest High School off Naito Parkway; this will include several thousand square feet (190 m2) of commercial space anchored around two dozen storefronts/entertainment venues including a theme park complete with waterpark
