The company built a mill on the south side of battle ground Creek in 1865 which became one of America's largest engineering firms. In 1907, Battle Ground incorporated as a city. At first, its citizens were farmers who raised chickens and pigs on their land; however, within 10 years they had developed into an active community with churches and businesses. By 1930, BattleGround had become one of the most prosperous small cities in Washington State when it merged with nearby Kent to form Kenton City (later renamed Kenton). During World War II many people from Battleground enlisted in military service and many factories were turned into munitions plants that produced materials for the war effort such as rubber shoes and airplane parts (see also " Totem Pole Memory" ). After the war ended there was little demand for these industries so they closed down or converted to other types of production while some retained employment until they retired or left town altogether. Many residents moved out during this time but some continue to live in old homes which are popular tourist attractions today due to their unique architecture and history

Battle Ground, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first European to see what was now Battle Ground was French fur trader Pierre Elliott Trudeau on July 9, 1792 when he and his party of traders stopped at the mouth of the Duwamish River for a night after raiding an Indian village. He described the site as follows: “I perceived that we had been upon an extensive plain with gentle hills behind it; but as I advanced towards it, I saw a number of small huts scattered about in different parts of it; and from one end to another there seemed no depth of water between them. It appeared to me that this could not be more than four or five miles distant from our boat[.]” In 1853, Battle Ground residents led by precinct chairman James M. Gray forced passage through Alaskan Way Viaduct over Railroad tracks into Thurston County so they could purchase land east of Battle ground for agricultural use and firewood gathering purposes. The community began to grow rapidly due to its location near railroads and access to markets. In 1912-1913 construction began on an expressway through Battle Ground which would connect Seattle with Portland via Puget Sound. The highway was completed in 1915 but did not bring much development because transportation was difficult to come by during those days and people were too busy living within walking distance of their workplaces or shopping districts in downtown Seattle instead. The growth stagnated until the late 1990s when advances in technology made it possible for developers to build high-rise residential buildings on formerly industrial sites throughout the city limits of Seattle (including Battle Ground). The original communities aroundBattle Ground have slowly lost touch with each other since then but continue occasional events/meetings held together by descendants as part of their shared history
