The Battle Ground National Guard was organized on November 12, 1861. The organization began with a few men from the town of Battle Ground and soon enough, the guard had grown to over 100 men. The guard initially served as a militia unit, but soon became an important part of the military during the American Civil War. Throughout the war, the national guard played an important role in both Defense of Washington D.C. and Confederate efforts to capture or overthrow President Abraham Lincoln. In 1865, after Union troops sacked Battle Ground and many of its residents were massacred, Congress passed a bill establishing the Washington National Guard as a permanently manned force that could be called into service for up to three years without recall. The unit thus retained its significant military significance until it was disbanded in 1871. Battle Ground is a small town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 546 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Eugene–Springfield, Oregon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Battle Ground post office was established on December 12, 1868, and closed on July 24, 1957. According to the US Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , of which is land and is water. The first European explorers to visit what is now Battle Ground had difficulty finding an encampment because there were no trails leading there from anywhere else in the region. In 1820 Jedediah Smith discovered two small rivers running through what are today Battle Ground and adjoining valleys; he called them "the Willamette." A year later John McLoughlin reached what would become Battle ground from northeast of here via a route now known as Umpqua River Road; he named it "McLoughlin's Ferry." On March 26, 1826 an American fur trader by the name of George Vancouver made his first landing at What became known as Georgetown (later Rogue Valley) about southeast of present-day Battle Ground when he traveled downriver in search for new routes to China. He founded a trading post here that continued until 1840 when it was abandoned due to navigation problems on the Snake River. In 1847 Captain Isaac Hull founded Hull's Landing about west of present dayBattleGround; this settlement lasted only a few months before being evacuated due to Indian attacks. Commodore David Dixon Porter built Fort Hindman near modern day Battle ground during early 1850s Klondike Gold Rush era.; however his facility did not work well so he abandoned it after four months in May 1850 while gold seekers explored nearby areas for ore potential instead. At least one other attempt at establishing permanent settlements took place around this time including: Colonel John Sibley's Post nearpresent day Hood Canal Bridge on Columbia River opposite Richland County seatSalmon Lake; however this outpost failed too because its location offered very little cover from raids by Carrack Indians. By 1860 rare earth minerals were beginning to be prospected northeast and east of Portland along Snake River where they had been found before by miners working for local entrepreneur James Wattenberg who eventually sold most or all these resources back east in 1860. The history of the National Guard is a long and complicated one. There are thousands of different National Guard units across the United States, and their histories can be quite varied. One of the earliest military organizations in America was the Company of Second Continental Regiment (later 1st Rhode Island Regiment), which was formed on October 26, 1775. The Company served as part of General George Washington’s army during the American Revolution. The regiment disbanded in 1776. In 1802, Congress created the United States Military Academy at West Point to educate officers for service in the U.S. Army and Navy. In 1821, Congress raised 2nd New York Volunteer Infantry to serve as an artillery battalion in support of Ulysses S. Grant’s Campaign against Mexico City; this battalion was redesignated 4th New York Volunteer Infantry in 1865 after it became known as the 4th Manhattan Volunteers (later 9th Infantry). On July 14, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln called up all able-bodied men between 25 and 45 years old into service for four months under section 527 of The Union Defense Act of 1862. This act authorized military occupation by federal authorities of any state that seceded from the Union following its November 11 referendum vote to secede from America. On December 12, 1861, Confederate forces attacked a groupof Union troops near Manassas Junction; these attacks led to what is known as “Manassas Day” or “November 24th” because two days later Confederate General Robert E Lee attacked an infantry column near Fredericksburg; this attack resulted in more than fifty dead and over five hundred wounded soldiers before Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.

Battle Ground is located in King County, Washington and was founded on November 10, 1847. The land that now makes up Battle Ground was purchased from the Yakima Nation by Colonel John Atchison and his brother James Atchison. The Atchisons built a small log cabin on the site for their own use and named it Fort Atchison. On January 25, 1849, the first battle of what would become known as the American Civil War took place at Fort Atchison when United States forces attacked Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee. The battle resulted in a decisive Union victory and peace was restored to America after over two years of warfare. In 1865, Battle Ground became part of the newly formed Washington Territory and saw some of its most pivotal moments during theProcession of Tears which followed the death of Abraham Lincoln. On February 14th, 1866, while attending a meeting at Topeka Colony in Topeka, Kansas Territory leaders voted to adopt a new Constitution which would be known as the Organic Lawof Kansas. This event marked an important turning point for Battle Ground as it soon became home to both political representation and commerce within the fledgling state. The following year saw even more upheaval with President Andrew Johnson’s Executive Order 9465 ordering all Native Americans present at reservation meetings throughout Indian Country to leave without giving any warning or compensation. Many people in BattleGround refused to leave their homes – including many who had been living there for centuries – leading to what is today called “the Great Reservation Rebellion” which ultimately failed due to lack of support from local authorities and soldiersmen alike In 1898 Battle ground also experienced one of its most defining moments when George Pullman set up his original White Sands Ranching Company here in order to expand cattle ranching operations across western Kansas This event led directly into World War II when Japanese forces invaded America throughOklahoma City where they unsuccessfully attemptedto occupy Seattle After World War II ended, much of what had once been owned by White Sands Ranching Company turned over to federal ownership including Battleground whereupon it began becoming an agricultural center again . In 1957 Battle ground lost its main street but continues To this day being an important stop on Route 99 . Today, much like before,BattleGround remains an important community with rich cultural significance within King County; It has seen significant growth since 2000 with multiple businesses opening up around town (including several restaurants), making it one of Seattle’s top tourist destinations
Battle Ground was a small town in Washington County, Indiana, United States. It is now part of the city of Indianapolis. The first permanent settler in Battle Ground was George Wills in 1811. He founded the village on land that he donated to the county for use as a present day cemetery. The first post office was established at Battle Ground in 1812. In 1824, John Prentice built a log cabin on the site of what is now Fountain Square Shopping Center and opened his business there. In 1830, Isaac Draper bought land next to Prentice's store and began growing corn and wheat farming there. In 1836, David Ralston purchased some of Draper's land and started growing cotton. By 1840,Battle Ground had a population of about fifty people. In 1849, Fort Wayne was established as the county seat and Battle ground became an unincorporated community within that limits. On January 1, 1850, it become an incorporated town with its own government when it passed a special election to create that status by default due to lack of voter turnout for other towns within the county limits at that time; this occurred without any vote being taken on whether or not to make Battle ground an incorporated town specifically because no one wanted it to be so given its small population size relative to other nearby communities). On November 3rd 1870 (the date before Indiana statehood), BattleGrounds incorporation papers were filed with State Registrar-General James Braidwood as follows: "Beach Grove Township No 2" On April Fool's Day 1971 (Ulysses S Grant's birthday) battle ground changed their name from Beach Grove Township No 2to Bloomington which then became the new name for the entire township until it reverted back again upon statehood like most other townships throughout Indiana on December 15th 1978 ().
