Air force gift history in Bellevue, Washington goes back to the early days of the United States Air Force. The first air force station in Bellevue was opened on October 15, 1942 by the United StatesArmy Military Base Board. It was called "Bellevue Army Airfield" and it served as a military airbase for bomber flights from Boeing Field in Seattle. The second air force station in Bellevue was opened on December 1, 1942 by the United States Navy at its new naval base at Astoria Bay. This Naval Base also served as an airbase for bomber flights from Boeing Field in Seattle. The third and final air force station in Bellevue was opened on February 4, 1945 by the United States Marine Corps at its new Marine Aircraft Wing facility at Naval Station King's Point. This Naval Station also served as an airbase for bomber flights from Boeing Field in Seattle. In 1948, the newly formed United States Air Force moved its command Headquarters to Bellevue and activated its Major Commands there including III Bomber Command and support commands such as I Bomber Command and AAF Reserve Command were activated under these Major Commands. In 1951-1952, two more major commands were activated – II Bomber Command (later VIII Bomber Command) and Tactical Air Forces – which provided fighter bombers etc., to supplement USAF strategic bombardment capabilities when needed. In 1955-1956 four wings were activated within I Bomber Command under Major General James Komerick: 1st Bombardment Wing (later 2nd Bombardment Wing), 3rd Bombardment Wing (3rd Bombardment Group), 4th Bombardment wing (4thBomb Group). On July 15 1957 President Dwight D Eisenhower issued Executive Order 13470 which created separate USAF armories with their own aircraft carriers: Fifth Fleet Armory at San Diego; Sixth Fleet Armory at Long Beach; Seventh Fleet Armory at Pearl Harbor; Eighth Fleet Armory - now Pacific Air Forces - at Guam; Ninth Fleet Armory - now Pacific Air Forces - located permanently at Yokosuka AFB Japan where all USAF tactical aviation assets are housed today since 1997! With this organizational change came increased responsibility for centralized control over USAFAAF mission areas resulting in a period of rapid expansion of civil aviation functions within USAAF! The activation of Strategic Arms Limitation Talks Agreement unilaterally ended all nuclear weapons testing program thereby allowing unlimited growth of jet fuel production leading to large increases not onlyin jet airplane production but alsoin fighter airplane manufacturing capacities during 1958-1959 therefore eliminating any remaining opposition to jet airplanes replacing propeller airplanes as our primary flew layer type airplanes! From 1959 forward USAAF planners had plans drawn up that envisioned strategic bombing missions being flown using Lockheed L-188A Lodestar trainers while medium range bombers such as McDonnell Douglas DC-8s would fly higher orbits providing area coverage while ICBM flying would be based out of Alaska with Thor missiles equipped on B-29s! However with the Soviet Union entering World War II along side Nazi Germany we quickly realized our mistake becoming bogged down then embroiled in a full scale war against another superpower!!! With no end or relief in sight we reverted back to propeller airplanes again!!

It played an important role in both the D-Day landings in Normandy and Wavell's Burma Campaign. In 1945, Bellevue AFB was activated as a nuclear weapons testing site. From then until its closure in 1993, it played an important role in America's nuclear arsenal.
Bellevue is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 51,859 at the 2010 census. Bellevue has been called "America's most liveable city". It is located on the eastern edge of Seattle, and crossed by Interstate 5. Bellevue is bordered by Lake Washington to the north, Mercer Island to the east, SeaTac Airport to the south and Puget Sound to the west. The University of Washington Medical School anchors Bellevue's core downtown area. Bellevue began as a small fishing village on Elliott Bay near Discovery Hill in 1881. In 1901 it became an incorporated town with a population of 10 people. Its first mayor was John Worthy Young. As Seattle grew wealthier and more populous, Bellevue lost some of its agricultural character but retained many small businesses and services that made it one of America's most livable cities during its early years. The Great Depression led to a decline in business activity but Bellevue managed to keep its economy strong through World War II until war broke out in Europe in 1939 and halted American economic growth thereafter. Afterward, Bellevue experienced rapid growth as jobs were created in information technology and other new sectors; however, this prosperity was short-lived because of recessionary forces setting into force after the stock market crash of 1929 which devastated society nationally and particularly hit Bellevue hard (). In recent years Bellevue has seen dramatic social changes with increasing Hispanic populations density along I-5 corridor & around lake washington Blvd., boosting crime rates significantly within these areas; however existing police & fire apparatus are more than capable of containing these risks should they become apparent
In the early 1900s, air forces were a fledgling branch of the military. In order to support their fledgling aviation capacity, the United States Air Force (USAF) created a gift history to remember its most cherished members and contributors in tribute to their service. The USAF first bestowed an honorary award in 1914 for “outstanding heroism or distinction” in the air. The Award was later renamed the Congressional Gold Medal in 1961 and has been awarded annually since then by Congress as a citation for excellence in American aviation. Today, there are over 1,500 member organizations of the USAF across fifty-six countries. At RAF Horsham Stations near London, where I retired as Superintendent of Aviation Services on 8 October 2009, I took part in presentations and retirement ceremonies for more than 230 veterans of both World War II and Korea who had served with distinction with aircraft from various USAF units including my unit – The 61st Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS). It is heartening to see these former servicemen display their badges proudly at events like this one which celebratesAir Force appreciation awards dating back to 1914.
