It wasn't until 1892 that Bellevue saw its first true coffee shop opening up - called 'The Coffee House'. This establishment was located on Third Avenue near King Street and sold roasted beans direct to consumers via an open air window. With so many different types of coffee being sold at The Coffee House on Third Avenue – from Ethiopian to Colombian – it was essentially the city's unofficial caffeinee headquarters! Over time though,'The Coffee House' slowly lost popularity due to competition from newer cafes that had opened up around town (including The Waffle Shop). However,'The Coffee House' still managed to stay busy enough that it eventually reopened under new management in 1916 with JBW Wilson as manager/owner! Wilson would continue running this business until his death in 1934! After Wilson's death however,'The Coffee House' passed through several ownership changes before finally coming into clutches of two brothers named Harry & Kenneth Epstein who ran it until 1984 when it closed down again due to financial troubles.'Harry & Kenneth Epstein would re-open the business under their current name - Koffee Klatch - which continued operations until 1998 when they decided not to renew their lease! By this point however,'Koffee Klatch' had already become one of Bellevue's most iconic landmarks – remaining standing through several incarnations including a few years where it sat dormant for five years!'By 2003 however,'Koffee Klatch' had re-opened successfully as one of Bellevue's only live music venues!'In recent years too', Bellevue has seen an increase in interest in both local brewed espresso drinks ('Café Latte') as well as international brands such as Starbucks (which now operates out of Everett WA), Dunkin Donuts (which operates out of Kent WA), Peet’s(which operates out of Issaquah WA), Beluga Bay Cafe(which operated out of Auburn WA) & Nyack Café(which operating out of Redmond WA)'There are even now plans underway by some entrepreneurs within BellevUE itself regarding starting a professional high quality espresso house - similar to what happened recently with Seattle’s famed Rainier Steakhouse!'
