The Bellevue, Washington National Guard was organized on December 4, 1903. The unit was first stationed at the Bellevue Army Ammunition Plant. On November 9, 1907, the Bellevue National Guard detachment was activated and erected a flagpole in front of the City Hall. The detachment served until 1912 when it relocated to the Armory Building on First Avenue South. In 1916, it moved again to Olympia Park and served there until 1931 when it returned to Bellevue Army Ammunition Plant where it remained until 1940. The detachment then served at various locations before disbanding on October 1, 1945.
Bellevue is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,824 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Bellevue–Everett metropolitan area. Bellevue is located on the east side of Elliott Bay and ZIP code 98122. Bellevue began as a Native American settlement called "Lake Defiance" by Chief Seattle in 1851. The first white settlers were Emmett J. Wright and his family who arrived in 1854 from Minnesota. They built a cabin on what is now First Avenue SW and named it "Bellevue". The town was formally incorporated on February 14, 1892 by King County Commissioners John Deering and Wm Halsey with the name of "Lake Defiance". On December 12, 1896, Bellevue had its first post office which was established at Fourth Street NW corner First Avenue SW. The railroads came to Bellevue in 1901 when they bought land along the Puget Sound Railway from Congress for $1 million dollars ($ when adjusted for inflation). The tracks ran through downtown Bellevue amending street names and numbering streets beginning with 1st AveSW (now First Avenue NE). At this time there were only two stores in Bellevue – one owned by Mr. & Mrs. Jenson (later renamed Harry's department store) and one operated by Jensens Brothers Store Company which opened on 8th AveSW just south of 2nd St SE near today's Eastside Mall location where it continued until 1941 before merging into Sams Club Stores merger that year across 4th St SE from Kmart store - creating Samsclub super store complex today known as SamsClub Plaza supersites including many large format departments such as Home Depot/ Lowe's/ Sears etc... Bellevue became an agricultural center during World War I with mills manufacturing munitions such as airplane wings and artillery shells while men worked in farms growing wheat, corn, potatoes etc... After the war ended most people left but some stayed to build new homes or start businesses like Rheem Electric Manufacturing Corporation which produced electric motors for cars starting production in 1923 before becoming America's largest producer of home appliances before being acquired by GE Appliances in 1957; then becoming Westinghouse Electric Corporation until Richard Nixon closed down all their factories worldwide due to Watergate fallout resulting in mass layoffs including much of BellevUE workforce who would return home over winter to rebuild... In 1965-1966 groundbreaking took place for Interstate 5 bypassing BellevUE making it easier to move goods around Puget Sound region while also providing jobs building the new interstate highway system taking away some jobs along old Route 520 corridor between Everett and Bothell (the current site of Seattle) leading to increased competition for employment among different communities throughout King County... Today most people living within walking distance of their work or shopping districts are self-employed traders or entrepreneurs rather than skilled workers engaged in traditional job Openings During recent years BellevUE has experienced rapid growth with both housing prices increasing significantly as well as development activity including several high rises overlooking Elliott Bay giving rise to views extending out over Elliott Bay towards Ballard Bridge which can be seen from most parts of town providing excellent access to numerous restaurants,... In May 2018 construction began on a new elementary school adjacent to lovely Park Place community located just off Highway 99W next door to beautiful waterfront park complete with tennis Courts volleyball Courts soccer FieldsRace Track track water slides etc.......
