Bellevue, Washington is a town of about 25,000 people located in the Central Washington region of the United States. The community was founded in 1892 by Levi Holland and his wife Anna. It grew rapidly due to its location within walking distance of the Bellevue School District and its easy access to transportation. In 1922, Bellevue became an incorporated city and began electing a police officer to serve as mayor. Bellevue is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 26,818 at the 2010 census. Bellevue is the largest city in King County by population and the second-largest municipality behind Seattle. It lies along Interstate 5 between Seattle and Tacoma, north ofSeattle's downtown area and east of Redmond. Bellevue's history begins with European settlers who arrived on the land that now includes Bellevue in 1851. The first permanent settler was Reuben Denny, who built a log cabin on what is now First Street. In 1853, John Nordlinger bought three hundred acres of land east of Bellevue from Denny for $10 per acre. He named his new settlement Nordlingerville after himself and his brother Jacob Nordlinger (Jacob had come overland from Denmark). By 1860, Bellevue had a school and two stores. A post office was established at Bellevue in 1865; it remained in operation until 1909. In 1878,125 acres (49 km2) of land were purchased northeast of BellevUE from Norseman Farms for $5 per acre ($93 per km2 today). This land became known as Northgate Park after developer George Percy Northgate donated much of it to BellevUE in 1907–08 as part of a larger urban renewal project called "Northgate". In 1915, Jens Jensen founded Jensensen Brewery which became one of the most successful breweries in the Pacific Northwest. In 1923 he donated 1 million bottles to help finance World War II; these bottles are still available today as collector items or collectibles for those interested in history itself! For many years following World War II Jensensen Brewery produced beer only for local consumption within its own town limits – this policy continued until 1978 when they started producing large quantitiesExport-branded beers outside their town limits too!
