This plant made two types of coffee- black and white- until it closed in 1951. In 1975, Dick Raymond bought the Grosse Pointe Breweries brand from the parent company and reopened the brewery as Dick's Small Batch Brewery with its own small batch brewing process and name. Today, Dick's Small Batch Brewery produces over 100 different flavors of coffee beans from four different roasts along with nine different espresso drinks.

It was managed by John Lummis and His Sons who also ran the nearby Pacific Coffee House which had its own oven and kiln for roasting their beans. In 1865, J & F Murphy opened a small grocery/cafeteria on First Avenue South near today's Bellevue High School. This business served as the genesis of what would become known as Bellevue Coffee Company Ltd., which operated from 1865 to 1916 with two locations: one on Union Street in downtown Bellevue, and another at 8th Avenue South & Mercer Street in north Bellevue (now home to Pinter’s). In 1916, Harry Forster established Forster’s Roastery and Cafeteria on Depot Street in east Bellevue where he still operates today as Oneal & Forster Coffee Co-Op. The first cup of Joe brewed here was produced on October 14th 1916 under the auspices of The Redmond Daily Herald Syndicate as an experiment by then-owner Harry Forster to improve relations between local pottershell operators and those running large commercial roasters such as National Roasters Corporation (NRC) plants outside town – something that never happened at NRC plants inside town! The coffee house continued serving coffee even during World War II when most businesses closed because production stopped due to shortages caused by the war effort; however, following hostilities ended, many residents returned home to start their own families so coffee remained a rare occurrence until it came back into vogue around 1960 when espresso machines became popularized throughout Seattle!
