The Bremerton Air National Guard activated on December 12th, 1947. The unit was originally called the "Bremerton Airmen" and it changed its name to the "Air National Guard Bremerton" in 1951. On May 1st, 1955, the Air National Guard was re-designated as the "National Guard of Washington". In 1958, the Air National Guards were again redesignated as the "Washington ANG". The unit's first deployment was to West Germany in 1960. Since then our unit has deployments to many countries around the world!
Bremerton, Washington is a small town located in the Yakima Valley of Western Washington. The population was 3,362 at the 2010 census. It lies about an hour's drive north ofSeattle and is the gateway to Northwest Passage National Monument. The name "Bremerton" comes from pioneer John Bremer who settled in what is now Bremerton in 1851. In 1872, his son George W. Bremer added the word "ton" to form "bremerton". The area that now Bremerton was first inhabited by the Duwamish people and lived near the mouth of the Duwamish River. The first Europeans to visit this area were Juan Pablo Gomez and Silas Wright in 1792 when they explored British Columbia. They noted a large body of water lying between Mount Rainier and Puget Sound and thought it might be an inland sea. After their visit, they named this body of water Lake Olympia after Princess Royal Olympia, daughter of King George III of Great Britain. In 1824, Captain James Cook discovered Vancouver Island while sailing alongthe Northwest Coast on his HMS Resolution. He named it Islay after his home island in Scotland but later changed it to Victoria because he had not yet met Queen Victoria (then known as Mrs Fitzroy). After Cook's death in 1777, his crew took possessionof part of Vancouver Island which they called Ebey's Island because Captains Ebey and Richardson had chartered boats to explore this area during their voyage from England across Canada on December 4th, 1789-8Ebay Gulch became part of Seattle on February 14th 1854 becoming part of Seattle propers immediately adjacent land southwesterly side only then did Edmonds County become fully associated with Seattle In 1847 Congress passed an act making land east of Cascade Mountains national forest which included present day Bremerton including all or parts thereof since deeded by Lewis & Clark Expedition as far back as September 12th 1800 when party left from Astoria Landing at Nisqually Bay for Gold Rush overland route Humboldt Bay journey via Baker Pass arrived January 11th at Gold Hill where supplies were cached before reaching higher country thence continued downriver where reached Stevens Pass early Februariered following snowmobile trails northeastward into interior reaching Clearwater River March 10th just past junction with Deschutes River near present day Enumclaw

Bremerton is a small town in Kitsap County, Washington. The population was 5,859 at the 2000 census. It lies on the eastern side of the Kitsap Peninsula and is bounded by the communities of Renton to the south, SeaTac to the west, and Olympia to the north. Bremerton has a humid subtropical climate with warm summers and cool winters. The area that now makes up Bremerton was first settled by members of what is now called Puget Sound tribes in about 1800. The first European settler in Bremerton was John Jacob Astor who arrived there in 1815. After years of struggling against Native American resistance, Astor's settlement became a thriving port on Puget Sound shipping routes. In 1824 he sold his land near present-day Bremerton to Nicholas Cooley for £2,000 (). Cooley named his new town after his father-in-law, James Kapp (1784–1850), an early settler in Whatcom County adjacent to Tacoma. Bremerton grew slowly until World War II when it exploded into activity as an air force base and shipbuilding center during World War II. More than 50% of all Boeing airplanes were made here between 1945 and 1950; some 85% of all military vehicles built here were also exported abroad during that time; and more than 2 million people worked at local naval yards while manufacturing weapons such as tanks and submarines. At its peak Bremerton employed over 120 workers per square mile (40 per square kilometer). However, many industries have since closed or relocated within or outside of Bremertontown due to competition from other marketplaces around the country or overseas demand for those same products made here in other countries. During this time period significant infrastructure projects such as water supplies and schools were undertaken which are still visible throughout today's community including several large shopping malls complete with high-rise buildings housing dozens of businesses along with highways connecting them together like Interstate 5 which runs through town center directly opposite CenturyLink Field stadium). In recent decades growth rates have returned but much has changed within town limits since then including dramatic reductions in jobs across a wide range of sectors resulting primarily from reclothing industry consolidation within just a few kb away from downtown cores where jobs once thrived Despite these challenges many residents remain steadfastly attached to their longstanding traditions rich history & culture

In the early 20th century, Bremerton experienced growth as a result of its strategic location on the Puget Sound River. After World War II, Bremerton continued to grow as an industrial town, thanks in part to its ties to Boeing and other major companies.
