The United States Navy has been deployed in numerous places around the world over the years and Burien, Washington is no exception. The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard has built a number of warships for the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 74) and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 68) fleets, as well as for various other navy vessels including the MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. One of these ships, the USS Constitution (CV-1), was also used to deliver gifts to military members stationed in Burien. Gifts from sailors and their families were commonplace during World War II and Korea, when America's military was stationed all over Asia. After that time, however, there was a lull in naval deployments until Burke served as home port for the USS John F Kennedy(CVN 76) during Operation Neptune's Spear in 1986. Since then, Burke has seen an increase in navy deployments with both CVNs 78 and 79 currently docked at the shipyard on long-term tours of duty. The United States Navy has been deployed in many different ways throughout its history. The USS Constitution was a sailing ship that served as the flagship of the U.S. Navy from 1775 to 1853 and again from 1861 to 1865. The USS Abraham Lincoln was a steam-powered battleship that serviced in World War I and World War II before being decommissioned in 1945. The USS Enterprise was a nuclear-powered submarine that served during the Cold War and afterwards as an auxiliary training vessel until she went out of service in 1992. One of the most famous deployments of the United States Navy was during Gulf War I when over 1,000 sailors were mobilized for Operation Desert Storm. Since then, other deployments have includedOperation Enduring Freedom (2001-2009), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2011), Operation New Dawn (2011-2015), and Operation Inherent Resolve (2016). One reason why navy deployments are so common is because they provide opportunities for sailors to learn new skills and participate in operations outside their regular duties. For example, sailors on board the USS John F Kennedy employed helicopters to drop supplies into Kuwait following Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990. This deployment also taught firefighters how to use Medivac stretchers while providing support for troops on the ground. In addition, navy deployments can help teach patriotic values such as duty, honor, selflessness, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills to military members who may not be exposed to these values at home or elsewhere in their lives. These experiences also give soldiers an opportunity to see first hand how democracy works and how important it is for countries like America to be trusted with power by other countries
The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is a Nimitz Class nuclear-powered cruiser that was deployed to the Western Pacific in support of Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The ship arrived at Naval Station Yokosuka, Japan on 26 October 1991 and began its deployment on 8 November. The Reagan was stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines from 7 December1991 until 3 January 1992 when it departed for Okinawa. From 4 January through 10 January 1992, the Reagan assisted in demilitarizing the Korean Peninsula as part of Operation Juinipo. It then returned to Yokosuka and arrived there on 15 February 1992. On 25 February 1992, the Reagan left Japan for Guam where it stayed until 18 March1992 when it sailed back to Japan under the command of Rear Admiral Harry Walters Jr.. It arrived back at Naval Station Yokosuka on 24 April1992 and commenced its final tour of duty which lasted until 9 May1992 when it returned home.
Burien is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County and the home of Burien Municipal Airport. Burien was founded by Captain James Waddell on November 3, 1851 as a farmstead known as "Waddup." The name may be derived from the local word for "a place where salmon swim," or simply from "wad" meaning "place." The first permanent settler in what is now Burien was John A. Dickson on May 1, 1853. Dickson had come to land that he thought might contain goldfields. He named his land after British Commander George Vancouver and called it Mount Vernon because it looked like Mt. Vernon in England. On October 15, 1854, Burien became a town when General George Custer drove off Indian attackers at a water supply stop near today's Highway 99E and sold 600 acres (2 km²) of land to JH Stevenson for $100 per acre (4 ha). This deed also included title to an existing community known as White Sands which lay just east of present-day Burien on what is now NE 24th Street and Sprague Boulevard. The town grew quickly due to its location close to diverse mineral resources such as coal, oil shale, gold and silver mines and timber plantations near Puget Sound. By 1870 the population had reached 2,000 people and by 1880 it had grown to 4,000 residents living in 154 buildings along Burridge Avenue between First Hill Road west of Interurban Railway tracks (now SE 20th Street) and Seventh Avenue south of I-5 freeway overpasses north of today's SE 100th Street intersection. In 1886 Mayor Abram Buell issued an ordinance establishing public schools within five miles (8 km) of all townships withinKing County but no school existed within five miles (8 km) of Burrige Avenue so school instruction took place in Fenton until 1889 when Waddell donated land north ofCurrent day SE 24th street corner with Sprague Boulevard for a new high school which opened in 1893 under the auspices of then newly formed King County Federation School District #1; this district later became part of Seattle Public Schools . One reason why burien rapidly grew during this time period were its favorable environment features including good rainfall patterns year round with little threat from hurricanes or typhoons; ample natural resources including coal & oil shale fields found around present day Burrige Ave & Sunrise Dr NW; strong commercial corridors with industry located nearby such as Everett WA (& Bellevue WA), Tacoma WA (& Sammamish WA), Enumclaw WA (& Issaquah WA), Renton WA (& KentlakeWA), Maple Valley CA (& Auburn Hills MI)), OlympiaWA (@Olympia) & Lewiston ME (@Lewiston)) making burien one area where businesses could easily expand into adjacent rural communities while avoiding city restrictions ; topographical advantages including longitude 47° 38' North latitude -122° 54' West longitude giving burient an ideal location between Puget Sound & desolation areas located far away from populated areas

Burien is a small town in the state of Washington, United States. It is located on the Puget Sound Peninsula. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit what is now Burien were French traders and missionaries in 1792-93. A post office was established at Burien on December 12, 1847, by order of territorial governor James K. Polk. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s as logging operations opened up along thesound's coast. Population growth slowed after World War II but resumed in the 1960s as Burien became a bedroom community for Seattle commuters and students attending nearby universities. In recent years, Burien has seen increased development around its downtown core and its waterfront with new businesses opening up including an aquarium, a restaurant/bar/nightlife district, and several housing developments completed since 2000 that have drawn increasing attention from developers looking to create newresidential areas along Puget Sound's most important waterway
