The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History in Ellensburg, Washington began in the early 1900s when Marines were sent to Ellensburg as part of the American Expeditionary Force. The town was originally known as Fort George and was founded by Major General George A. Stevens in 1855. The Marines played a significant role in the development of Ellensburg and many of the towns residents still carry fond memories of those days. A detachment of Marines arrived on September 16, 1909 at Fort Stevens which served as headquarters for the District of Columbia during World War I. On February 15, 1911, Majors John L. Pelham and Charles Fenton became Commandant/Commandants-in-Chief respectively of Marine Barracks at Quantico Virginia while Marine barracks were being constructed there. Maynard Dodge commanding officer 2nd Battalion became Commandant on April 1st 1912 after serving with Company C 2nd Battalion (Marine) stationed at Quantico from October 1912 until itsactivated on November 30th 1914. From January 1915 until November 1918 a detachment from 3rd Battalion (Marine), Second Marines conducted garrison duty ashore near Hampton Roads Va., Quantico Va., and Norfolk Va.. On December 8th 1916 Captain Harry Witherspoon assumed commandof Headquarters & Service Company 1st battalion (Marine) upon its activation at Quantico Naval Air Station adjacent to Terminal Island where it remained until disbanded on July 7th 1950 following the end of World War II. Thereafter Headquarters & Service Company relocated to an encampment located along G Street NW near Capital Hill before finally disbanding effective August 12th 1951 due to budget cuts associated with Operation Neptune’s Spear atomic bombing campaign against North Korea that had become politicized within the Marine Corpsprior to that time period employing enlisted men only instead thereof utilizing military equipment furnished by private businesses pursuant thereto). Since then numerous detachments have been activated or reactivated throughout our history including: 2d battalion marines; 3d battalion marines; 1st battalion marines (1948); 2d brigade marines (1973); 4th brigade marines(1991); 5th brigade marines(2002). However, the Brigade level unit designation has never been adopted since manned detachments are typically organized into battalions which consist primarily or exclusively of enlisted men although there are occasions when detached squads or platoons may be formed under special circumstances such as operations leading up to amphibious assaults or major combat campaigns involving more than one corps division simultaneous deployment having implications for manning ratios thereby resulting in increased logistical challenges especially during peacetime deployments where procurement rates for individual items might exceed requirements thereby causing Selected Reserve officer training units (/MILITARY RESERVE) effectiveness grafting onto Regular force units whereby separated reserve officers are not properly trained adequately both administratively and physically FOR DECIDING WHEN TO CALL UP MORE EXEMPTED EMPLOYEES AS PART OF A MARINE BATTALION DIVISION OPERATIONS SCHEDULE OR WHEN NON-EXEMPTY OFFICERS CAN NO LONGER PERFORM THE MAIN REASONABLE RESPONSIBILITIES NECESSARY FOR THEIR CURRENT JOB TITLE). Stockdale also went on to serve as Commander-in-Chief United States Central Command which oversaw operations throughout Afghanistan and Iraq between 2003 and 2009. Throughout his career he demonstrated his ability to lead troops into battle regardless of situation or opponent – something that many commanders aspiring for such high ranks can only hope for themselves!

Ellensburg is a small town in Washington, D.C., located on the banks of the Potomac River. The population was 9,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of Prince George's County and is bordered by Northern Virginia to the north, Arlington County to the east, Loudoun County to the south, and Frederick County to the west. The first permanent settler in what is now Ellensburg was James Caldwell in 1792. Caldwell built a log cabin on land he purchased from Captain John Smith Jr.. In 1802, Colonel John Cranch founded Stonington Creek Academy which became an important school for boys in Washington Territory. In 1814, Congressman Jacob Riis came to Ellensburg with his family and started a bakery and grocery store which soon became one of the largest employers in town. The community name "Ellensburgh" originated from this time period when it was used as a shortened form of Colonel John Cranch's full name – James Caldwell (1762-1824). In 1828, Ellensburgh Improvement Company constructed wharfage along present day Anacostia River for shipping goods arriving via steamboats from Alexandria, Virginia. This early development helped make Ellensburg one of Washington's most thriving cities during its early years. During this time also several residents served as mayors or city council members including David Boren (1901-1909), Harry Reid (1965-1993), and Vincent Gray (2001-2007). The Panic of 1907 led to economic decline in Washington due to increased manufacturing activity outside our borders; however business owners decided not to lay off their workers fearing tariffs levied against imported goods would follow suit and cause more joblessness within our own community! Businesses reopened but less than two years later were forced out again when Congress placed tariffs on Chinese imports! After seven years without significant growth opportunities due largely to high tariffs & recession we took advantage of tax breaks offered by President Franklin D. Roosevelt through his New Deal programs & began planning for downtown redevelopment that ultimately occurred between 1945-1950 under Mayor Lewis Auerbach who named it "New Town". Notwithstanding these challenges progress has been made throughout recent decades with downtown redevelopment creating new housing options as well as businesses such as Target Supercenter which relocated into Main Street Plaza following a $145 million renovation/remodel project completed in 2016! citizen input continues today through monthly meetings chaired by Mayor Lovely Warren who leads all aspects related Downtown Development including aesthetics & programming
