Enumclaw is a town in Thurston County, Washington, located on the eastern shore of Lake Union. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,865. The name is derived from the unikernel Enumclaw Falls. The first white residents of Enumclaw were Alexander Ross and his family who arrived in 1854 from Spokane. In 1876 David Richards purchased land east of town from John Hammock and built a sawmill there. In 1889 Henry Cramer opened a general store in town which became an important center for commerce in Thurston County. In 1911, Enumclaw had a post office and two churches: First Baptist (now called Mount Zion) and Methodist. It also had one school: Cascade School District No. 1 Elementary School which taught students between grades K-4th grade during 1909-1960 before it closed down due to budget cuts by then Superintendent Harry Beavers. The last resident to live in Enumclaw was Mrs./Mr./Mrs./Mr.(?) Hakeem Abdulaziz who died on October 15th, 2009 at the age of 95 years old after a long battle with leukemia following her battle with cancer for many years prior to that date

However, during World War II, Enumclaw's population decreased sharply due to the war effort and lack of available housing. In 1945, when the United States Forest Service took over management of the town's forests, Enumclaw's population again declined slightly.
