Enumclaw is a small town in the state of Washington, located about 30 miles east of Seattle. The population was 1,893 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-Tacoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded by fur traders in 1853 as part of the Northwest Territory. Enumclaw Post Office was established in 1854 and remained in operation until it closed in 1971. The first settler in Enumclaw was John Coburn, who arrived with his family from Canada on November 20, 1855. Settlers began arriving more frequently and by 1870 there were over 100 residents living in the town. In 1876, a school was built and operated for four years before being moved to what is now Yakima County Courthouse. In 1907, an oil well was drilled near Enumclaw and production started soon afterwards; this led to increased development within the town and its growth into a large commercial center during World War I. However, during World War II much of Enumclaw's infrastructure were destroyed by fire or bombed by Japanese forces; as a result only a few buildings remain standing today including the old school building which still stands vacant although renovated several times since its construction in 1907 During Obama's time as President (2009-2013), many jobs were added to the local economy through stimulus programs such as ARRA (the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act). One project that directly benefited from stimulus funding was rebuilding Interstate 5 along parts of mile marker 246 near Enumclaw which reopened after being closed for years due to damage caused by rainstorms over 2007-2008 After eight years of drought conditions that have left swathes of western Washington facing water shortages due to low precipitation levels across most parts of the state government has finally agreed to build two new reservoirs providing around 55 million gallons each for eastern Washington State while also increasing irrigation rates across much needed agricultural land Muchneeded updates are also planned for Highway 99 just outside town limits There have been reports lately that some members high up within both state government may be trying to buy out all or nearly all ownership stake in local businesses so they can centralize control

Enumclaw is a census-designated place in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2010 census, its population was 356. The community is part of the Bellevue, WA Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Enumclaw were fur traders and missionaries who stopped at the site in 1811 on their way from Vancouver Island to Seattle. The area was heavily populated by Native Americans before white settlers arrived in large numbers in the late 19th century. In 1905, developers bought land near present-day Enumclaw for a small town known as "New Lynn". New Lynn never grew and closed down in 1965; the land passed into private hands and has been used for various purposes ever since. In 1959, residents of New Lynn voted to incorporate as a separate town, with name change to "Enumclaw". The move came about because an agreement had been made between then- mayors Bob Kachmar and Don Nehlen that if Enumclaw became an incorporated city it would be responsible for all school funding - something that New Lynn never agreed to do. According to local legend, early settlers named their new community after three bears they killed while Hunting Creek Run ran through it (the bears are still found near the intersection of First Street and State Route 206). However there is no evidence that any such bears actually lived in or around Enumclaw at this time; instead likely references are to one or more local legends which date back centuries old about “Big John” – a giant Sasquatch who roamed throughout much of central Washington during pre-contact times (likely including parts of today’s King County). Despite being unofficially called "EnUMCALW", most residents refer just simply as "Enums" due both to our town's unique location within commuting distance from Bellevue proper as well as our cultural ties thereto – especially given that many businesses located within walking distance either support or participate in local events & festivals year round! Some notable exceptions include The Lion House Café which does not participate nor give out street addresses outside its business hours; however ALL orders placed through email/phone ordering receive tracking information Via Googlemaps! Enumclaw was founded in 1847 by the Potlatch Band of Indians. The town served as a post office from 1851 to 1861, and then as a census-designated place from 1921 to 1941. It was rezoned from an unincorporated community in 1959 to a city in 1961. Enumclaw's population peaked at over 10,000 in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but has since declined slightly.
