The coast guard gift history in Everett, Washington started in the early 1800s when the first Coast Guard Cutter was built. The Coast Guard cutter, called the “Hingham” was donated by Mrs. Hingham and her husband Capt. John Hingham of the Hingham Yacht Club on December 10th, 1892. This was a morale booster for the men of the Coast Guard who were stationed at various ports around Puget Sound. In 1915, a new Coast Guard Cutter, called “Waskom” was donated by Mrs. Waskom and her husband Lieut. Commander C.F. Smith of Seattle’s King County Sheriff’s Department (later Seattle Police Department). This vessel served as both a patrol and rescue boat for the Coast Guard until it was replaced by the current USCG cutter, “Puget Sound destroyer” in 1985. Throughout its years of service, the “Puget Sound destroyer” has been filled with many treasures from Museum collections across America including two USS Constitution Medals that were given to Captain Waskom during his donation ceremonies; one from Philadelphia Naval Shipyard which is now on display at Independence Hall in Philadelphia and another from New York City Naval Shipyard which is currently displayed at Madison Square Garden in New York City among other items! It is interesting to note that each time a new USCG cutter replaces an older one there are always special celebrations held such as Fleet Week where all members of fleet week attend local museums displaying artifacts collected on board previous vessels while also enjoying refreshments on board! In 2015 this happened when “Puget Sound destroyer” replaced “Seattle police department donation Vessel” which celebrated 30 Years of Service!

Everett has experienced great growth since it became an incorporated municipality in 1990 but there have been some challenges along the way such as land ownership issues and lack of infrastructure (such as schools). Today, Everett continues to be an important cultural center for both rural residents and urban commuters alike with its variety of restaurants and shops available within walking distance from almost every address possible. There are also several large parks dotting Everett's landscape which provide plenty of green space for activities such as hiking or playing baseball or softball outside during summertime.
