The Everett, Washington National Guard was activated on December 1, 1907 as part of the Oregon National Guard. The unit was organized into a regiment and redesignated the 9th Infantry Regiment in 1912. The 9th Infantry Regiment served with distinction in World War I before being Inactivated on October 16, 1922. The Everett, Washington National Guard was reactivated on November 3, 1950 as part of the Pacific Reserve Forces and assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. On September 10, 1951 the 9th Infantry Regiment was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC). On June 15, 1962 the battalion became an infantry brigade under command of Joint Base Lewis-McChord's 1st Brigade Combat Team. On May 12, 1966 Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) Detachment A was activated at Joint Base Lewis-McChord as a self-contained headquarters company for special operations forces elements attached to other units within 1st Brigade Combat Team. On February 6, 1969 HHC detachment B became operational at Fort George Meade when it replaced Detachment M which had been disbanded due to budgetary restrictions. On July 15, 1970 HHC detachment C became operational at Fort Hood while detachments D and E were activated at Fort Douglas support sites in Oregon County. On October 8, 1971 HHC detachment F became operational at Camp Pendleton while HQ Company detached from 2nd Brigade Combat Team also located there for assignment to 4th Marine Division during Operation Desert Storm

John Everett and his men who explored the Strait of Juan de Fuca on October 21st, 1792. They were looking for a new route to Asia and discovered the Puget Sound region when they arrived in this area about 12 miles from present day Everett.Captain John Everett and his men camped near what is now the south side of First Street which today marks their original location on Puget Sound Estuary waterfront between Seattle Island and Elliott Bay. They built a small boatshut there which still stands as part of modern day Everett parkland/waterfront area near Southside Boulevard/Everett Place Narrows Bridge across Elliott Bay from Seattle Island Ferry Terminal.-Everett through its history: beginnings (1792-1980) The first permanent residents to establish themselves in what is now known as Everett were Captain John Everett's party that exploring Puget Sound Estuary during October 21st, 1792; these pioneers came ashore on what is today Elliott Bay where they erected their smallboatshut with James Muir later participating also helping erecting some remaining components around 1875.- continued growth (1880-present) During 1880 - Present time many people settled down here permanently due to Centralia Gold Rush Boom or other factors such as WWI being hard on resources so jobs could be had outside of home country etc In 1920s many homes were torn down because of fire hazard due to heavy logging operations taking place then 1946 saw major housing developments start with community center being built then others started popping up including schools etc.. development continues until present day with many businesses existing here like Microsoft & Amazon
