The history of high quality coffee in Federal Way, Washington began with the first roasting of coffee in the town in 1892. The town was founded by H.W. Pope and his family on a small farm near the present day intersection of NE 137th and NE 158th Streets. In 1904, Mr. Pope opened his own store, which he named “Pope’s Coffee House” because he roasted all his own beans. In 1912, Bishop George Shafer bought the business from Mr. Pope and continued to operate it under the name Shafer Coffee House until 1972 when it was sold to Everett Enterprises Incorporated (Everett). At Everett, three generations of employees operated the business; their children became executives at different levels within Everett until its sale to Jardine & Mathews Corporation (Jardine) in 1987. In 1992, Jardine purchased Everett Enterprises Incorporated for $1 million and changed its name to Jardine & Mathews Corporation (Jardine). At Jardine, four generations of employeesoperatedthebusiness;their children became executives at different levels withinJardineuntilitssaletoKrogerCo.,Inc.(Kroger). KrogerCO.,Inc.(Kroger) closed down the company in 2003 after many years of failure due to competition from Safeway Stores Inc.(Safeway), Walmart Stores Inc.(Walmart), and other grocers who were opening larger stores in Federal Way during that time period. Since closing down, much has been done to preserve High-Quality Coffee artifacts including moving them into new storage facilities and holding an annual auction where relics are donated to museums or educational institutions around the world who cherish coffee as part of their culture or history!

Federal Way, Washington is a city in the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 23,383 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in the state after Seattle and Tacoma. It is also the second-most populous city in Puget Sound region after Seattle. The city is located on Interstate 5 and State Route 99 between Bellevue and Redmond. The first white settlers of Federal Way arrived in 1851, when they began to settle what was then land belonging to British Columbia. In 1854, Congress created Territorial County which included part of today's Federal Way as well as Olympia and parts of Kings Valley and Nisqually River valleys east of Lakeview Cemetery. The county had a population of about 6,000 people before it was merged into King County in 1907. In 1881, there were sixteen businesses in Federal Way with a combined payroll valued at $5 million; this number increased to eighty-four by 1901. By 1910, however, there were only twenty businesses with a combined payroll of $15 million; this number decreased to nineteen by 1920 because most businesses closed during prohibition era (1920–1933). On October 15th 1933 voters approved an ordinance creating City Hall which replaced all prior municipal government functions within six weeks with an elected Mayor/Council system; City Hall opened on November 1st 1934 with Mayor Harry Schieffer as its first occupant On January 1st 1981 Microsoft leased 2 acres from The Boeing Company for use as their research lab until 1984 when they moved back to Seattle . Unfortunately due to noise from the lab & other activities that took place on that land Federal Way became known colloquially as "Meltdown Alley". From 1984 until 2000 Federal Way experienced rapid growth thanks primarily to new development along I-5 south (the "southside") including large apartment complexes such as CenturyLink Field South Campus & Northgate Village As more people moved into town & started families (& needed child care), restaurants quickly emerged near Interstate 5 but also grew closer north (the "northside"): Mt Olympus Rd corridor became home for many small shops while Meridian St became commercial district for larger buildings like Safeway
