The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1775. The first national guard unit in Washington was raised in 1811 and served as an artillery regiment under the command of General George Washington. The unit was redesignated as the 8th Infantry Regiment in 1846, and then the 5th Infantry Regiment in 1881. In 1903, the regiment was re-designated as the 9th Infantry Regiment. The 9th Infantry Regiment served with distinction during World War I and World War II, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations. After World War II, the regiment underwent several changes until it became known as the 206th Infantry Regiment in 1959. Although not a combat unit during any wars, the 206th Infantry Regiment has played an important role during peacetime by providing support to local police departments and firefighters. The Federally organized National Guard of Washington was created in 1912 as a result of the American Civil War. From 1917 to 1920, the battalion served as part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team Seattle Commandery National Guard. from 1920 to 1922, it served as part of 1st Brigade Combat Team Seattle Commandery National Guard. In 1923, the battalion was redesignated as 4th Battalion (Seattle), Washington State Army Reserve and it served until 1924 when it reverted back to 3rd Battalion (Seattle). In 1925, Congress passed a law creating the Territorial Defense Force for each state and District of Columbia within their respective borders with authority to1) provide for organization and training of militia forces for general use in case of an emergency; 2)provide for military defense against domestic insurrection or invasion by aliens; 3)provide for provision of ambulance service in event of disaster or Catastrophe; 4)maintain order during carnival seasons; 5)compete with local police forces in matters such as investigation and closed-circuit television enforcement; 6) perform other duties authorized by law. On October 16, 1926 2nd Battalion (Washington State Army Reserve), now known as 4th Battalion (Washington State Army Reserve), transferred from Tacoma Armory Company to Federal Way Municipal Armory Complex under lease from Tacoma Armory Company through its board company managers Jno Cashwell and Geo Kappenheimer including future Major General Clyde Tolbert commanding officer
Federal Way is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 25,723 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County. The city is located on the eastern edge of Seattle and forms part of the metropolitan area that includes Seattle and Tacoma. The original settlement at Federal Way went by several other names before it was given its current name in 1847 by General James Kensey to honor British general Sir John Federal. The name "Federal Way" has been used continuously since then and today it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in King County. When first settled, Federal Way was a small village with only a few buildings and a few families living near the water's edge on what is now property owned by Boeing Co., which later became Microsoft Corp.. In 1855, when Congress created Washington Territory, Federal Way became part of it as well as part of Lynnwood Township. In 1865, whenKing County was created from portions of both Washington Territory and Lynnwood Township, Federal Way also became part of its territory. In 1923, when KING-TV began operations in Tacoma as KING-TV 2nd Channel 5 (later KIRO 7), bureaux were set up in Federal Way and across Tacoma regional radio markets to serve portions of Puget Sound northward from Everett WA until September 1987 when all KING-TV stations were sold off to ABC affiliates through their share structure agreement known as CW affiliate block purchase program which included 6Seattle stations including 4 owned by News Corporation who would merge into Fox affiliate WCCO 6Seattle effective January 3rd 1988 effective October 15th 1989; this left only 1 station licensed to Federated during that time period unserved outside of Tacoma proper; this station ultimately served as an affiliate for DuPont company’s subsidiary Pacific Northwest Copper mine until sold to Microsoft Corporation on May 12th 2006 for $250 million dollars On July 17th 2007 Comcast announced they were selling all their UPN affiliated stations including KIRO-7&KOMO-4 including Federated & RCN Broadcasting Company to Japanese company Tokyo TV network Japan MediaCorp effective November 8th 2007 for $2 billion dollars; this left only 1 station licensed to Federated throughout that entire period not inside or outside of Tacoma proper; this station ultimately served as an affiliate for Japanese broadcaster Nippon Television Network's television branch JMC Holdings Incorporated until sold to Microsoft Corporation on December 21st 2009 for $3 billion dollars Finally on February 15th 2012 Microsoft announced they are buying out Japan MediaCorp's interests in both KIRO-7&KOMO-4 from Japan for $3 billion dollars making them fully Ownership status with no affiliation allowed between them providing full control over their local media outlets throughout Washington State pending regulatory approval; this made Federated one stop shop dealing exclusively with Microsoft products throughout all aspects Of their operation

Federal Way is in King County, Washington and is a city. The population was 21,594 at the 2010 census. It serves as the county seat for King County. Federal Way was founded in 1851 by citizens of Seattle who donated land to be used as a town square. The first post office was established in Federal Way on December 6, 1851. The name "Federally" was chosen because it coincided with the then-current United States Constitution's 12th Amendment which granted voting rights to citizens of Indian tribes operating within U.S. boundaries (the Muckleshoot tribe being an exception). In 1902, the city hall burned down and federal troops were called in to help protect it from arsonists. In 1923, the city council passed a resolution condemning World War I veterans for invading Federal Way without authorization from Congress and calling for their return home; this led to heated debates over whether or not WWI veterans should be considered citizens of Federal Way or Seattle proper. In 1941, during WWII, Confederate soldiers fought near Federal Way while occupying Seattle; after successfully hiding out in a warehouse near International District until Allied forces arrived, they surrendered at gunpoint to American troops under General George Custer and his command - this event is now commemorated by a statue of General Custer outside City Hall. The economy of FederalWay has been characterized as diverse but primarily agricultural since its founding days through farming families that continue to operate today among other businesses including: schools (formerly known as School District No 2), Microsoft Corporation Headquarters (now Amazon Web Services Headquarters), Boeing Co., Costco Wholesale Club warehouses (#1 & #2), FedEx Air Cargo (@FedExAir cargo) and many small businesses making up what has become known as "The Northwest Side." Many notable residents have included: former Chief Justice Earl Warren (1961-1982); Interior Secretary Robert Moses (1914-1987); actor Chevy Chase ('Chevy Chase' 1966-1989); actress Jane Fonda ('Fonda') 1976-1983; president Ronald Reagan ('Ronald Reagan' 1981-1989); author JK Rowling ('JKR') 1995-.
