It was located at 1117 E Main Street. They sold roasted beans and espresso drinks. The next business to open was the Gourmet Coffee House on July 17, 1917 at 501 W Broadway. The owner of the house was Mrs. Anna Kappe who had a grocery store next door. She served coffee and pastries from her kitchen until it closed in 1949 when she moved to Tacoma and reopened her bakery there. The Gourmet Coffee House is the oldest continuously operating gourmet coffee house in America outside of Europe or Japan. It is also one of the most commonly referred to as "the Mecca of caffeine." In 1951, Harry Hirsch's son-in-law Bob Green bought the business from Mrs Kappe with plans to turn it into a restaurant specializing in roast beef sandwiches with cream cheese and raspberry jam instead of espresso drinks and beans only for customers ordering through a phone order line or through their hotel room service account while they were away on business or vacation...At that point, Bob started calling himself "The Gourmet Café."

Kennewick, Washington is a small town in the state of Washington and the seat of Kennewick County. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Kennewick were fur traders and missionaries in 1792-1793. The first permanent settler was George Vancouver, who arrived in 1795. In 1847, Charles Goodall founded a log cabin on an island in what is now Lewiston Creek. By 1853, there were over 100 settlers in Kennewick Township and more than 200 people living on the mainland by 1870. In 1907, a new post office was established at Kennewick with Wm Hickey as the first postmaster. That same year saw the opening of First National Bank which remains active today as one of Washington's largest banks with locations in both Kennewik and Olympia regional markets. In 1911, during World War I, Japanese American citizens from New Japan moved to Kennewick for work in munitions plants on various military bases around Puget Sound before being relocated to internment camps after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor that day. During World War II, many jobs went away due to war production restrictions but some locals decided to start their own businesses such as radio station KENEWICK RADIO (now KNXT) or trucking company Western Pacific Lines Incorporated (WPLC). The town also became home to two United States Air Force bases: Parkland Air Force Base (later renamed Joint Base Lewis-McChord) and Healy Air Force Base until it closed down in 1991; then Fort Lewis Army Base until it closed down too late also making it home base for Douglas Aircraft Company helicopters until its closure too late also making it homebase for Boeing Helicopters currently housing Robinson Helicopter Sales Incorporated helicopter dealership).
