The Kennewick, Washington Police Department was founded on December 12, 1875. The first officer to serve with the department was Captain George H. Thomas. By 1907, the department had grown to nineteen officers and two Sergeants. In 1912, Captain John Fenton assumed command of the department and continued to grow it until 1958 when Officer Harry A. Smith took over as the Chief of Police. Today, the Kennewick Police Department operates a full-time force of thirty-four officers and eight Sergeants who provide essential service to the community. The department's mission is "to provide quality law enforcement services that are responsive to residents' needs." Kennewick is a city in the state of Washington, United States. The population was 18,838 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Clark County and one of the eight cities in Washtenaw County. Kennewick is known for its agricultural products such as apples, grapes, wheat, barley, and other grains; its scenic Intermountain Range; and its history as a center of Native American culture. The first Europeans to visit Kennewick were French traders and missionaries in 1792 who named it La Conteville after Count François de la Conte. By 1824 most residents had built houses with dugouts or plank huts on small hills near what is now downtown Kennewick. A store was built on Fourth Street in 1827 by George Romney and others who came from Wenatchee Valley to start a water supply system for their town. That same year saw the construction of the first schoolhouse in town - an adobe building that still stands today on Third Street NW. In 1830 John McLoughlin founded McLoughlin & Co., which later became JP Morgan & Co.. In 1865 Prominence Mill was founded by James Ewing with milling capacity for 200 acres (80 ha) that produced flour, feed, applesauce, bacon oilcake etc.. Prominence also acted as a stopover point for stagecoaches travelling between Seattle and Spokane until 1912 when they reached Columbia City via Waynes Ferry over White River then downriver to Lewiston before continuing upriver again to Pullman Landing along Isthmus Road before reaching Spokane finally at Meadowbrook Landing near present-day Microsoft headquarters east of Interstate 5 just south of Cheney Lake

Kennewick, Washington is a town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,527 at the 2010 census. Kennewick is located on the banks of the Columbia River and features a mix of agricultural and forested land. Kennewick has been inhabited for about 4,000 years. The first European to visit what is now Kennewick was Captain John Jacob Astor in 1810. He named it after his ancestor, Colonel George Vancouver. The townsite that would become Kennewick was surveyed by Captain James Cook on September 14th 1792 during his second voyage of exploration along the Northwest coast of North America. Cook named the site "Dah Wahk" which means "place where water flows". As this area lay within present-day Kitsap County, Washington at that time there were no official boundaries between what are now upriver and downriver counties - this remained true until 1907 when residents in both directions lobbied for an official town line to be drawn through their neighborhoods! After much debate, commissioners voted 6 to 1 in favor of creating a new town called Kennewick on February 14th 1907! The original settlers who founded Kennewick were farmers and their families from England who had emigrated to California in search of goldfields around 1848. When they found no gold near them they returned home but continued farming until about 1865 when logging began providing more than enough revenue to support their modest lifestyles. About 1880 some additional English settlers arrived and began marketing produce from their farmsteads along the riverbanks; these newcomers became known as the "Checkered Group." By 1890 most of these early pioneers had died or moved away with few traces remaining except for a few items left behind including pioneer gravesites still visible today near modern day State Route 99 which runs throughKennewick center
Kennewick was founded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804. The town became an important stop on the journey, and many of the people who lived there are buried in nearby Kennewick Cemetery.
