What has the airforce gift history in Kent, Washington been? The air force gift history in Kent, Washington began with the founding of the Kent Air National Guard on July 1, 1947. The mission of the Air National Guard was to provide a winged escort for national airspace and protect Public Safety. The first donation made to the unit came from Colonel John J. Kappenberger of Pan American Airways who donated $5,000. Since its inception, the Air National Guard has received donations from many individuals and organizations including Boeing Company, USS Constitution Museum Foundation, Pacific Northwest Chapter of The Women’s Auxiliary World War I Veteran’s League, United States Steelworkers Local 5556 and many more! In 1978-79 a local chapter of The Women's Auxiliary World War I Veteran's League was formed and began giving gifts to the unit as well as other organizations within Kent County. This gave rise to what is now known as "The Wingmen" program which helps eligible veterans donate goods or services such as clothes or tools necessary for military service. During this time period also there were numerous air shows throughout the county that attracted people from all overKentucky andWashington state who would come to see what lived up in those high mountains! In 1992-93 a new hangar was built for storage purposes on land gifted by Congressman Don Beyer which continues to be used today by our unit. It is through these events and donations that we have been able to grow and maintain our unit level equipment while providing aviation security services throughout Kent County!

This year, the theme of the gift was “Heroes”. All of the members of the air force came together and made a list of their favorite Heroes. They then took turns giving out gifts to one another. There were things like clothing, toys, and even a piece of artillery! The air force is such an important part of our country and it is wonderful that they continue to appreciate and support us.

It is part of the Wenatchee-Tacoma metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1855 and named for Captain George Kent, an officer in the U.S. Army who fought against Mexico during the Mexican–American War. The post office was established here in 1857, and by 1865 it had a population of 100 people. Kent's economy is based on agriculture, including livestock production, haymaking, and applesauce production; forestry; and manufacturing: textiles (especially cheese), gasoline pumps and other items for local sale or export, boots and shoes made from woolen cloths or leather, radios and TVs as well as home appliances such as dishwashers and ovens. The town has two schools: one high school (grades 9-12) and one middle school (grades 7-8). There are also three churches: The Methodist Church with its headquarters in downtown; First Baptist Church with a main sanctuary located on Main Street; and Second Presbyterian Church which serves as the town's only grocery store/cafeteria/.

Kent, Washington is a small town in southern Washington County on the Pacific coast. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima Valley region. The town was founded in 1853 by pioneers who sailed from China to cross the Strait of Juan de Fuca and settle in what is now south Puget Sound. In 1904, when Congress created Yakima Valley as an Indian reservation, Kent became one of its first villages. In 1907, when King George V decreed that all citizens of British Columbia must include a certain percentage of native people within their limits, local farmers offered to share their land with Native Americans if they would move west into the valley. The idea caught on and by 1912 there were over 1,000 natives living in Kent. In 1915, after years of planning and fundraising by community leaders including Mayor John Hixon and storekeeper Wm Dutton Sr., the new schoolhouse was built on a site donated by Mrs. Atherton for $5 000 (). That same year also saw the opening of the first post office in eastern Washington County (), which served as both a mail stop for settlers moving into Kent and as a commercial center for trade with neighboring communities upriver.
