There is a long and varied coffee history in Kent, Washington. The area was first settled by the Yakima people in the early 1800s. In 1854, the town of Wenatchee was founded on the north bank of the Columbia River. By 1907, it had merged with neighboring Olympia to form the city of Olympia. The first coffee shop in Olympia was opened by J.M. Boydell in 1912. He purchased a small potting shed near his home and began to grow coffee beans. The popularity of coffee grew rapidly in Olympia and throughout Washington State, and soon dozens of small shops were operating all over the state. In 1916, Jay Cooke & Company became the first company to open a store exclusively within Seattle limits- thus beginning Seattle's coffee hegemony as one of America's most important commercial areas for coffee production and consumption. In 1924, two brothers named Harry and Arno Schwarz started their own roasting company called Harry Schwarz Coffee Roasters Incorporated (HZC). They roasted only whole bean coffees at their facilities until 1933 when they switched to ground level beans for all their products statewide. HZC remains one of King County's most successful small businesses to this day! In 1938, entrepreneur Julius Rosenwald bought what is now known as Rosenwald Coffee Company from Harry Schwarz Coffee Roasters Incorporated (HZC). Rosenwald renamed it after himself - Rosenwald Coffee Corporation (RCO). RCO continued to produce whole bean coffees until 1973 when they switched entirely to ground level beans statewide due to an air pollution crisis that was sweeping many parts of America at that time. Since then,RCO has been responsible for shaping up manyofthe world's best-known brands - Starbucks®, Dunkin' Donuts®, Caribou Coffee®, Peet’s Coffee® etc... All these companies owe much debt both directly and indirectly to RCO’s unique heritage as one OfAmerica’s pioneercoffee retailers!

When Washtenaw County was organized into counties in 1912 and 1913, most of what is now Kent was placed within Washtenaw County's eastern borderland including Dearborn Heights (now part of Bellevue), Redmond Manor (now part of Everett), and parts of White Center and Issaquah. In 1914-1915 Hiram Lodge #5 opened its doors to men seeking spiritual advice from Indian prophets living among them on land they had claimed as theirs by treaty with the native nations; this marksKent's first meeting place for religious seekers since its founding date In 1916-1917 two bridges were built over spanable creek beds that connected Fremont with Olympia; one bridge still stands today near where it crossed State Route 9

Kent is a small town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer, Oregon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to explore and write about what is now Kent was Captain George Vancouver in 1792 when he reported back from his journey around Cape Horn that he had sighted "a great body of people who seemed to be inhabiting some high country" on the east side of Hood Canal. In 1814, the United States Exploring Expedition discovered gold along the Snake River in present-day Oregon and named it after then President James K. Polk's native land: Oregon (from Spanish "El Oro") because of its many streams bearing this name. Kent was platted in 1868 by Solomon Kane as an agricultural community with a post office called Kentfield. It became a city in 1907 when it amalgamated with Salem. The population peaked at 3,000 during World War II but has declined since then with the loss of jobs in mining and other industries; today there are only 350 residents living within the city limits and most work outside of it either as farmers or professionals. The downtown area is home to two sister schools: Sisters Scholastica de la Merced School for Girls and Sisters Annunciation School for Boys which share one common building across from each other on Market Street east of main square. A variety of cultural events are held throughout the year including art shows, music festivals, Harvest Festivals etc., as well as family reunions/festivals like Fourth Of July BBQs etc., all while keeping things fun for everyone involved!
