The second ship to be purchased by Kent was the USS Discovery, which was built in 1912 and served as part of America’s Pacific Squadron during World War II. In 1919, America bought another warship from France-the HMS Victory-and she served as America’s Flagship during the Korean War. Finally, America acquired a new warship from Britain-the HMS Illustrious-in 1944 and she served as America’s Flagship during World War II before being decommissioned in 1945. The USS Constitution is now on display at Naval Base Kitsap County located outside of Seattle. The USS Constitution is one of only two warships ever to have been awarded both an impressive “Knottynose Award” (presented to her for excellence in performing duties afloat) and a Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), both given posthumously. She also holds several other distinctions including having been named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Americans twice and having been honored with numerous awards throughout her career such as being inducted into both the American Legion and Veterans Hall Of Fame. Additionally, she has been portrayed on stage many times both nationally and internationally throughout her illustrious career. Her final voyage took place on September 6th, 2017 when she made a visit to China

Kent is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,712 at the 2010 census. In recent years it has become an agricultural center with a significant dairy and poultry industry. The town is named after George Kent, an early settler and namesake of the nearby city of Seattle. George Kent had been born in Huron County, Michigan on December 12th, 1824. He came to America in 1853 as part of the Oregon Trail and made his way to what is now King County by land purchase from the Yakama Nation. When he arrived there were just two small settlements – Auburn and Lincoln – both founded by fur traders in 1854. The first settlers started trading with the local Native Americans for goods such as meat and firewood before building their own homes and businesses around 1840. By 1860 there were over 60 people living in Kenttown (later renamed Kent). By 1870 there were 100 residents; by 1880 that number had grown to 300! In 1861-1865 George served as Sheriff of King County - one of only three law enforcement officers ever hired by Washington Territory government! In 1865 he married Elizabeth Ann Thomas who would later be known as Lady Bird Johnson. They would have five children: Mary (1868-1957), Harriett (1871-1945), Dorothy Day Emerson (1874-1966), John Quincy Adams Morton (November 17th 1876-May 3rd 1945) and Lane Kirkland Clark Lewin (March 20th 1901 - October 2nd 1984). Their home at 156 N State Street became known as "The White House". Mrs Kents widow continued to live until her death in 1982 but all five kids adopted different names starting with daughter Lane Kirkland Clark Lewin's middle name which was then shortened to ClarkLewin when she became a public figure.) In 1881, the arrival of railroads led to an increase in development around the town and it became a city in 1902. It experienced rapid growth during World War II with its extensive military manufacturing facilities, but declined after that war. Since then, Kent has been mostly a agricultural community.

It grew rapidly during the 1850s due to its strategic location at the mouth of the Juanita River and its access to agricultural land. In 1876, Kent became an incorporated town with a population of 513 people. It experienced rapid growth during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its proximity to Seattle and its status as a cow-town. The population reached 7,500 by 1907. By 1921, however, construction of Interstate 5 had caused significant losses in business from visitors who no longer came to visit the small town on the banks of the Juanita River. In 1925, Kent merged with neighboring towns Spokane and Stevensville to form what is now known as Pioneer Valley Village.
