The Longview, Washington Army National Guard's Deployed Gift History begins in 1944 when the unit was activated as the 9th Infantry Regiment. From then until 1951, the regiment served in World War II and the Korean War. The 9th Infantry Regiment was disbanded in 1951 and its members were absorbed into the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Washington National Guard. In 1969, the 4th Infantry Brigade became part of the newly formed 3rd Infantry Division and was re-designated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHHC) 511st Field Artillery Battalion. In 1992, HHHC 511st Field Artillery Battalionwas renamed again to 1/1st Engineer Battalion (Engineer Assignments). In 1993, 1/1st Engineer Battalion became a brigade level unit under 3rd Infantry Division's command and assumed responsibility for all engineer activities within that brigade including support of infantry battalions on mission areas. 1/1st Engineer Battalion also assume control of Longview Army Ammunition Plant which had been used by other units since 1941 as an armory. Since reorganization in 1993, 1/1st Engineer battalion has played an important role within both army brigades through their various assignments such as civil engineering projects; management of ammunition plants; construction maintenance; providing security for installations and facilities abroad during deployments; homeland defense missions; training reservists for military service branches
Longview, Washington is a town in Walla Walla County, Washington. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Tahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1912, it became one of the first towns in Walla Walla County to be founded on Indian Reservations after the creation of that county. The town was platted in 1854 by Captain John Sellers and James Halliday as a station on the Oregon Trail. The name may come from "long view," meaning a long view from a location where you can see for miles either side of you. At first, Longview consisted only of dirt and log homes built by settlers who started arriving in early 1855. By 1870, there were 10 buildings and 100 residents. In 1912, when Walla Walla County was created, Longview became one of its initial towns. It had a population of just under 200 people when it founded but quickly grew to over 1,500 during its early years as an agricultural community with several farms andanches along the Columbia River valley near present-day Wenatchee. Until World War II, Longview relied heavily on irrigation water brought downriver by canals to irrigate its fields and orchards; however, this system began to fail beginning in the 1940s because more land was being developed downstream along the Snake River Valley (the main water source for much of southeastern Washington). To address this problem, Longview planners recommended building dykes across the Snake River so that all water drawn from that river would be diverted into Lake Wenatchee instead – an idea that eventually led to construction of what are now Interstate 5 and US Route 99 around LongVIEW Boulevard/Old Highway 97 southward from downtown Wenatchee until I-5 crossed Lake Wenatchee southeast of Olympus before terminating at SR-119 eastbound near Nisqually Dam bypassing most parts of Longview proper (but not including anylying areas west of SR-119). The post-war boom in nearby Yakima also helped lead to growth in neighboring communities such as LaVerne and Mount Vernon; these developments followed suit with suburban housing patterns by 1950 which led some farmers to abandon their land within sight or sound of Interstate 5 or Yakima City limits while others continued growing crops onto their original holdings throughout this period (see: Everett vs Snohomish case). Energy production also played an important role during this time as automotive manufacturers relocated their operations northward into Puget Sound; many found new markets for their products hereabouts due to cheap labor costs relative to those farther south than Seattle or Tacoma (see: Kent vs Lower Mainland case). Longview, Washington is a small town located in King County, Washington. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of King County. The first permanent settler in Longview was John Prentice in 1846. The town was organized on November 12, 1851 and named after Captain George Long who fought with General Douglas MacArthur during the Mexican-American War. The only store in early Longview was operated by J.B. Carpenter and his three sons from 1853 to 1865, when the business closed due to lack of customers or competition from other stores opening up around the area. In 1861, GovernorofWashington issued a proclamation designating Longview as an arsenal for military purposes to support Fort Vancouver on Puget Sound. This designation helped increase trade and commerce within the community and attracted settlers who desired access to artillery ammunition and supplies available only at Fort Vancouver. Despite its relatively new status as a town,Longview experienced some prosperity during its earliest years including several buildings being constructed that still stand today such as the old High School building (now home to CenturyLink Field), Post Office Building #2 (now home to an agricultural museum), and First National Bank Of America building (now home to Kingdom Hall). However, these successes were short-lived as soon thereafterLongview began experiencing significant decline which led to it losing many residents over time while also contributing significantly to its current size and importance within King County politics both today and into the future. In 1862, Confederate forces under General Robert Ewell stormed Fort Vancouver resulting in extensive damage done both inside and outside of the fort including loss of life among both garrison personnel and civilians alike; LongVIEW consequently became one of few communities located in rural King County not caught up in this major conflict which ultimately ended with Union victory over Confederate forces at Antietam Creek near Fredericksburg Maryland on September 9th 1862 . As a result of this event most people living within easy reach of Ft Vancouver relocated either outlandishly far away from their homes or inland where they could still enjoy quality growing season without fear of Yankee occupation; accordingly much smaller amounts if any local businesses developed along with no real impact on daily life overall despite continued economic development taking place elsewhere throughout King County during this time period.. In 1865 JB Carpenter sold his store/business operations & moved westward across Puget Sound joining others later known as Seattle’s “First Generation” pioneers who had followedprising entrepreneurs like Cornelius Vanderbilt & Edward Coe eastward following wagon trains full of goods arriveing via land route through what is now Tacoma - creating what we know today as Seattle’s Pioneer Square As word spread about various opportunities available for sale near Olympia along Withstnadt River he set out scouting trips downriver looking for suitable sites….. In December 1865 he acquired 640 acres northwest corner lot 5ty 3 rd Street between Highways 96 & 97A becoming Everett Land Company Ltd., purchasing land adjoining present day Evergreen Elementary School site….. After organizing Everett Land Company Ltd., John Prentice again surveyed property northwestern corner lot 5ty 3 rd Street between Highways 96 & 97A resulting in plat No 1…. On July 15 th 1870 John Prentice married Elizabeth Aiken daughter of James Wickenheiser alias Jacobsen… [This] marked beginning end long view's developing political fortunes with resultant increasing isolation from larger communities making it difficult for individuals such as Mr Prentice himself even though he generally contributed generously theretofore………………………………………..[Dennis S.] Nichols

It grew rapidly, thanks to its natural resources and its strategic location at the junction of several wagon trails. In 1907, Longview became the capital of Washington state. However, Longview's prosperity declined during the postwar period as oil prices crash and job losses began to take hold.
