Longview is a town located in the Yakima Valley of Washington, United States. The population was 5,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the King County metropolitan area. The first people to live in Longview were the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Trail pioneers who arrived in 1879. They built log cabins near present-day Longview High School. The first post office was established in 1880 and operated for six years. In 1885, a sawmill was built on current-day West Side Road and four years later, a hotel called the Capitol Theatre opened on Main Street. In 1907, an electric power plant was built by Tacoma Electric Company and it became the first commercial center west of Seattle. In 1916, when Everett departed from what is now Yakima Valley to form his own city limits east of Longview proper (the original boundaries had been 17th Street south to Mercer Avenue north), Long View joined Everett as its new city limits with a population of 10,000 people; however, it only had two stores and no services until 1922 when it annexed nearby Kennett Air Force Base which had been closed since World War 1 due to lack of space there for military housing development. In 1922–23, construction began on what would become the largest shopping mall in Northwest America when PacificMain Shopping Center opened on land that once comprised Kennett Air Force Base; though originally known as "Everett Mall", it has since been renamed "Longview Mall". The mall features more than 350 stores including anchor retailers JCPenney and Macy's as well as larger format brands such as Sears, Radio Shack and Neiman Marcus The growth of Everett made possible continued development along Third Avenue which runs through downtown LongVIEW with recent projects such as First National Bank Building (now home to upscale retailer Wegmans) being completed in 2007 followed by Griggs Hardware & More store addition in 2009 Since 2000s there have been several apartment buildings developments developed around Downtown/Third Avenue corridor: Regency Place Apartments (2005), Park Place Apartments (2007), Millennium Tower I & II (2009), Cascade Place Development(2011)), etc In late 2013 long view business district will be redeveloped into an urban village centered around One Stop Shop restaurant

Longview is a town in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1877 by John A. Long and named after his rancho (place) at the junction of the Clearwater River and the Spokane River. In 1907, Longview incorporated as a city. On July 20, 2014, it became one of 50 cities in Washington to be merged into Seattle First settled by Europeans in 1792 as an agricultural community on Puget Sound's eastern border with British Columbia, Longview grew steadily during the 19th century thanks to its rich natural resources including coal and stone for construction and shipbuilding; lumber from Douglas fir trees; salmon fishing along the Clearwater River; and wheat from local farmers. By 1900, Longview had become one of the most prosperous small towns in America due to its location on a major rail line connecting Tacoma with Portland and Seattle. With its large population (>10,000), well-educated citizens who were able to create businesses such as banks and hotels (including several that became nationally known including CenturyLink Field), easy access to jobs in nearbySeattle (and easily accessible Interstate 5), and an expansive downtown area filled with cultural amenities like theaters and restaurants – Longview quickly emerged as one of America's most influential communities of early 20th century pioneers. The dramatic growth of post-World War II Seattle has impacted not just Longview but other rural municipalities east of I-5 within Clark County too: myriad new apartment complexes have been built since then near Highway 99W between Everett/Bellevue/Everett International Airport (to house workers commuting into Downtown Seattle) or North Bend/Northeast Portland (housing workers commuting out). All these developments have come at incredible cost: hundreds of acres worth of forested land has been lost over time; many homes associated with Overlook Road & I-5 have been replaced by highrise apartments or condo units; dozens if not hundreds more water wells have had their taps turned off because Of course they are now "green". Many residents feel that they've sacrificed much for what has become an increasingly unaffordable suburban lifestyle – something which can only continue to worsen as real estate prices skyrocketing make it increasingly difficult for people outside Greater Seattle – but few seem willing or able to do anything about it beyond complaining about what they perceive as "the elite" disdain for them while enjoying expensive lifestyles without any commensurate benefits…. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s due to its strategic location on the river and its role as a transportation hub. By 1900, Longview had a population of approximately 500 people.
