Longview, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,755 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Area. The land that now makes up Longview was first settled by Native Americans in the area around present-day Longview and Issaquah on the Olympic Peninsula. The first European to visit what is now Longview was Captain George Vancouver on his chart of 1792. He named it Point Defiance after a ship he saw there. In 1834, John Wesley Powell explored Lower Mainland through Stevens Pass and came across Lake Nisqually while exploring the Columbia River Gorge; his account led to suggestions that an route be built over Stevens Pass connecting Puget Sound withthe Pacific Ocean be developed as a road or highway instead of developing nomadic settlements along the way as had been planned by later explorers such as John Jacob Astor. A post office called Issaquah was established in 1836; it closed in 1907 due to postal service problems in earthquake-prone Seattle Territory then became part of Lynnwood In 1850 the land east of Interstate 5 (now known as Lake Washington) became available for settlement following purchases from tribal members who’d been deported from their reservations during Kansas statehood; this area would become DowntownLongVIEW today). In 1978, Longview became home to the world's first "virtual reality" experience when Microsoft brought Kevin Spacey and other stars from their movie "House of Cards" to live out an evening at a local hotel on virtual reality equipment provided by GEICOtto tour operators Bell Helicopter Service and Virtual Reality World America Inc.. The event raised over $5 million for local charities. In 2006, Google Earth opened up portions of King County that had been off limits to developers due to water rights issues surrounding Mt Baker Lake. As development continued apace around town center areas such as Eastlake Plaza and Northgate Center (both developed by Amazon), access improved with more limited setbacks for new buildings between existing properties - making it easier for residents who desired easy downtown access without sacrificing character or privacy within their neighborhoods or schools - something that many younger people appreciate given how central downtown has become over time (and continue to be).

However, during World War II, LongVIEWS came under attack from Japanese forces who burned down many homes and businesses. After the war, the community slowly declined until it reached its current state in 2001 when it had only 50 residents
