The Longview Police Department was founded on July 1, 1878. It has been in continuous operation since then and is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in Washington State. The department is made up of officers from a variety of walks of life and branch offices throughout the city. Today, the department has over 100 officers who are dedicated to providing quality service to the citizens of Longview. In recent years, the department has enjoyed several donations which have helped improve our capabilities and support our mission. One donation that had a significant impact on the department was a $5,000 grant from Microsoft Corporation in 1998. This grant allowed for the purchase of new video equipment which allowed for more effective patrols and investigations. Additionally, this gift broadened police operations in areas such as streetscapes and crime prevention tips. In 2002, we received a donation which was even more impressive: $25,000 from Boeing Co., Incorporated. This gift allowed us to purchase new patrol cars and equip them with state-of-the-art technology including GPS systems, audio/visual units and detection sensors. This addition gave us an edge when it comes to being able to investigate crimes quickly and effectively while also deterring them from happening in the first place! Another donation which had a significant impact on our capability was a $50,000 donation from JBS Corporation in 2006. This gift allowed for continued expansion into new areas such as intelligence gathering as well as training programs for officers specifically designed to better Serve their community members!

The canal helped to bring industry and jobs to Longview, while also providing access to good water resources for farmers and others who used it. By 2006, however, long-term trends indicated that irrigation water use could no longer be sustained without negative impacts on vital forestland adjacent to the community; this led to various efforts over several years culminating with passage of a resolution by both chambers of Congress condemning large-scale tree cutting in rural forests near urban areas across America which jeopardized climate change To date, only 8% of original consumptive wetland has been restored within 10 years due to growing public demand for improved environmental outcomes from Congressionally mandated clean energy development projects! Today’s economy depends heavily on exports: agriculture (a $4 billion dollar sector), fishing (the state’s second largest employer), transportation services (mainly trucking) and recreation including skiing and snowboarding are all major contributors."

By 1960, however,Longview had declined rapidly due to declines in agriculture and industry alike. Today it is only a ghost town that retains its name from earlier days.
