Monroe has a humid continental climate with very warm summers and cold winters; average monthly temperatures range from 23 to 47 degrees F (9 to 24 degrees C). Though tiny by U.S. standards, Monroe had an important role in American history before becoming a town at the turnofthe 21st century: In 1792, when George Mason founded Fairfax County—a county including portions now in Virginia—Monroe was its first community established outside Virginia’s capital cities (Richmond and Norfolk). In 1850, Congress passed a bill creating what would become Washington County; Monroeville Township was included within it on February 3, 1850 (just two days after creation). At that time there were only 527 people living in Monroe; by 1910 its population had grown to over 1,000 persons! Most importantly though for Monroe residents during this time period were their local newspapers which provided critical news coverage while also serving as social media platforms for village life back then- just like we do today! It should be noted that although neighboring Thurston County absorbed much growth between 1850-1920( swelling from 2 populations to around 11), largely due to annexation by Everett/Seattle following completion of Union Pacific Railway's new line through Thurston Valley - primarily because Seattle could not support another large municipality within commuting distance - none other than Monroe experienced significant population growth during this timeframe either! Henceforth “Monroe” would forever remain one of several small villages dotting rural western Wash post-railroad era
