Moses Lake is a town in Stevens County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Stevens County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Moses Lake was David Benton in 1857. The town was named after the biblical Moses, who led the Israelites from Egypt into Canaan. In 1908, Moses Lake incorporated as a village and changed its name to Moses Lake Village in honor of then-Mayor Samuel Sanger. In 1950, the tribe of Yakima moved into town and began construction of their communal building on Main Street near where Interstate 5 crosses over from Washington to Oregon; this structure remains standing today as the Yakima Nation Museum (formerly known as "Moses Lake University"). In 1969, during an effort to attract more businesses and residents to the area due to annexation by Wenatchee City, Mayor Burt Kapp announced that he would not seek re-election that year because he felt his job wasn't accomplished within the limits of city government. As a result of this decision, many businesses closed down around downtown Moses Lake while others relocated or opened up shop elsewhere in Wenatchee when annexed by city limits. One business which did stay open however was Kapp's old law office on Second Avenue which functioned for many years as a local grocery store before being sold and going out of business around 2001). John Fenton became mayoralty candidate for office in 1979 but lost against incumbent Norm Coleman after large contributions from property developers including Ted Stratton Sr., brother-in-law of then-Governor Gary Johnson The current mayor is Lynda Annette Smith with term set through 2020

The War of 1812 was fought between the United States of America (USA) and Great Britain (UK). During this conflict, most of the soldiers who served in America’s army were from New England. This is because many wealthy men donated money towards American military operations abroad. In 1865, the Ulysses S. Grant became President of the United States after being elected Vice President on November 4th, 1865. On January 20th, 1866 General Order No 1 was issued which read “All Officers must provide each enlisted man with an opera glass at all times while on duty” This order also stated that any enlisted man who did not have an opera glass would be subject to arrest. This order was probably inspired by Napoleon’s orders which stated that all officers must provide troops with opera glasses at all times while on duty (Napoleon Order no 5). At this time, operas were very popular among Soldiers and Sailors due to their entertainment value and ability to relax after long hours of combat/duty. Many Officers thought that operas might help troops focus on their task at hand instead of distractions such as enemy fire or boredom.

Moses Lake is a small town in Stevens County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,548 at the 2010 census. Moses Lake was founded in 1879 by James A. McDowell and named for his famous brother-in-law, Moses Lake of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Moses Lake first appears on government maps as "Wapackoneta". In 1881, James A. McDowell bought land east of Moses Lake from the Indians for $4 per acre. He built a log cabin and started to farm the land. In 1886, he married Marilla Ladd and began to name his properties after family members: James A. McDowell Place (1886), Amos Ladd Place (1887), Garnett Ladd Place (1890), Franklin Denny Place (1892). At this time, there were only four dwellings in Moses Lake--two log cabins and two frame houses--and the population was just six people. By 1907, however, there were over thirty homes in Moses Lake with a population of over one hundred people! In 1916 Lewis Sargent purchased about three miles northeast of town from McDowell for $10 per acre and started to build an agricultural community which would eventually become known as Sargentville; it remains one of the most remote towns in Stevens County today. On January 14th of that year Mesdames Jaffe and Smith filed a plat with the county recorder's office naming their new community "Moseslake" after James A . Mcdowell's older brother-in-law who had died some years earlier while serving in World War I on board USS Monitor off Long Beach California (). Whitney Halsey served as Surveyor at this time conducting local surveys which are included on many deeds throughout what is now Stevens County. In 1924 Harry Kapp became President of America National Bank located downtown which soon became known as Kapp's Corner; it still stands today across from Town Hall where bank headquarters once stood until 1992 when it was moved into its current location next door to CenturyLink Field!Kapp also donated land north of town along Highway 97B which would be used for future village development including a high school/postal service center/library/community center etc.. This area now includes part of the old town core area between Center Street & Highway 97B! The early days at Moses lake were very hard working with no benefits other than housing and food considered “necessary” during those tough times like before WWI when prices doubled or tripled due to lack of goods available anywhere else! Farming allowed families not only to provide themselves but also send their children out West where they could work4 leaving behind valuable memories we have here today!! These memories help form our identity as residents here today and have helped us through some tough times like being forced outta our homes during prohibition…..We all know these things happened here long ago….we just remember them fondly
