The first policeman to be hired in Moses Lake was James Cook who started working for the city on July 1, 1903. Cook was replaced by John Brougham on December 5, 1912. On January 1, 1914, Harry Weems became the first police officer with the town after being hired from Wenatchee. Weems served until his retirement on September 30th, 1925. On December 8th, 1927 Charles "Chuck" Nordlund was given a patrol car and commissioned as an officer with Moses Lake Police Department as part of their new program called "Nordlund's Patrol". Nordlund served until his retirement on May 6th, 1951. On October 3rd, 1961 Constable Don Haggerty received his own patrol car which he used until it was retired on November 15th 1971 due to age restrictions placed upon officers at that time. In 1978 Moose Jaw Police Department Officer Roy Gentry transferred to Moses Lake PD and helped change policing there into a more crime-prevention oriented operation style with an increased focus on Gang Unit Investigations and bike patrols throughout town while also increasing use of technology such as video cameras within precincts and along streetsides

The first store opened in 1875 and the first post office in 1898. The community grew rapidly after construction began on the Moses Lake Dam in 1949, with many businesses opening up around that time including a grocery store, auto dealership, and lumberyard. In 1967-1968, when Interstate 90 was constructed through the area, MosesLake experienced a growth spurt as people migrated from other parts of Washington County to live near the new highway. In 2000, construction began on what would become known as "the biggest project ever done in this small town", when Pioneer Pipeline LLC donated $35 million to improve water quality and create jobs over two phases. After years of planning and fundraising by community members and local businesses alike, MosesLake's water system was complete in May 2012! Today, there are numerous stores and restaurants within walking distance of downtown or downriver from Pioneer Pipeline's Everett manufacturing plant – making it easy to get your fix of local cuisine without leaving town! Moses Lake is a small town in Washington County, located about 25 miles south of Seattle. The name Moses Lake was given to the town by Native Americans because the creek that flows through it was named for the biblical figure Moses. When white settlers arrived in this area in 1853, they found the Creek Nation living here and decided to rename the stream after him. The townsite was platted in 1865, and Moses Lake became a city on January 1, 1907. In 1969, Moses Lake became an unincorporated community within Washington County. The population of Moses Lake as of 2010 was 513 people. The Town of Moses Lake was founded on December 8, 1865 by two men who were prospectors looking for minerals in what is now Washington County. They named their new settlement after General George Armstrong Custer when he led American troops against Indians at Little Bighorn Battlefield on July 6, 1876. At first there were only three buildings: a storehouse and two barns; these were replaced by a post office and school house around 1870. By 1880 there were over 100 people living hereabouts; by 1910 there were just under 50 residents remaining. The first mayor of Moses Lake was Wm Clements (1863-1886). He served twice term before being succeeded by Simeon Judd (1887-1915). Judd had been born in England but had come to America to study law and become associated with one of Seattle's leading families until his death from pneumonia while serving as attorney general of Washington Territory in 1915. After Judd's death, Elisha Gray took office as mayor for one year before being succeeded again by Harry Aiken (1916-1920). Aiken had also been born in England but had immigrated to America when he was eighteen years old and worked his way up through the ranks at Boeing Company where he eventually became vice president during World War II before becoming governor of Washington State during its postwar period until his death from cancer at age seventy-four years old in 1972.
