Moses Lake is a small town in the Yakima Valley, Washington, United States. The population was 1,032 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-Tacoma metropolitan area. Moses Lake was founded in 1854 by John Sneath and named after Mount Olympus in Greece. Moses Lake's first coffee roasters were located on East Main Street and West Third Avenue in Moses Lake. Today, many of the businesses that serve coffee are located on Second Street between Park Place and First Avenue in Moses Lake. The early pioneers who established Moses Lake were farmers who used local forested land for their crops and livestock. In 1854, John Sneath arrived from Olympia, Washington to found a small farming community called Moses Lakeside adjacent to what is now Yakima County. The name of his community derived from Mount Olympus which he had seen while traveling through Greece on his way to become a lawyer in Tacoma (then Snohomish County). Sneath had purchased 640 acres of forest land east of the river where he soon erected three breweries - one called "Moses" (named for Mount Olympus), one called "Brewster" (named for Brewster Island near Olympia) and another called "Lake View". One account reports that Sneath also built a house with logs stacked six high around an open fire to roast his beans! His brewers produced about two million cups of coffee each year before World War II destroyed most of their equipment and production lines. One important event that helped shape the early history of Moses Lake Coffee was when Captain George Aiken donated some tracts of land south of town to start what would become Skagit County Agricultural School in 1862 as part of his donation to improve school opportunities for children throughout Western Washington including those residing within this rural area stretching from Skagit Falls upstream through today's Yakima Valley into Whatcom County...tracts which still form partof today's campus! The donation marked an important watershed moment as it led to not onlySkagit County Agricultural School but also pioneer farmer Ephraim Woods' establishment across town at 3762 South 2nd Ave., later known as Starbucks Coffee Co., Inc., headquarters until its saleto Dutch Bros Coffee & Tea Ltd.. In 1915, Skagit Electric Cooperative joined forces with Puget Sound Telephone Company forming Seattle telephone service territory-one day after WA statehood! This cooperation helped create what we know today as CENTURY 20th CELLULAR COMMUNICATIONS COOPERATIVE-the forerunnerof our current CenturyLink company

In 1907, the Moses Lake Coffee Company was founded and remained in business until 1978.Throughout its history, the Moses Lake Coffee Company produced some of the world's most popular coffees - including Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Guatemalan Sumatra Arabica, Colombian South American Pina Colada, Italian Roast Arancini and Moroccan Mint Julep. In 2007, the company announced it would be closing down its operations due to competition from online retailers.

The water here was very clear and clean, which made growing crops possible while also providing plenty of water for livestock and mills dotting the landscape. In addition to its natural resources, other reasons why Moses Lake became an important community were due toetta timber trade with British Columbia and increased demand for lumber during World War I because of increasing military activity around Seattle
