Oak Harbor is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area and shares borders with Everett to the north and Bainbridge Island to the east. The first Europeans to visit what is now Oak Harbor were Chief Seattle's party on July 20, 1819. They named their small community after a large oak tree that stood in the town center. In 1854, John Denny founded Seattle and Tacoma on Elliott Bay; his company became known as Denny's Bay Company. In 1871, Oak Harbor was annexed by Tacoma as part of that city's incorporation. On December 7, 1907, Oak Harbor had its first post office opened when Captain Edward Halsey donated land for a post office near his home on First Street SW. The U.S. Post Office moved from its original location in 1909 to its current building on SE 44th Street SW in 1922. In 1914–15 there was an excavation for oil wells at what is now SE 45th Avenue SW., but no gas or oil production ever took place because of high water depths and lack of access roads during those days In 1928 Lynn Paulsen started construction of her childhood dream house on SE 38th Avenue NW., which she still lives in today; it eventually became known as “the Paulsen House” Also starting around this time some people started using the term "Old Town" (now called "East Village") for what is now Oak Harbor because it was then considered more rural than present day neighborhoods such as Ballard and SeaTac . There wasn't really an Old Town until about 1960s when development began along NE 75th Street between I-5 and Boeing Field making it more urbanized Nearby Mount Sidley Park was also developed into residential areas making it difficult for people who wanted nature around them

Oak Harbor is a town in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,752 at the 2010 census. Oak Harbor is located on Puget Sound and it is bordered by the cities of Everett to the north and Seattle to the west. The first Europeans to visit what is now Oak Harbor were fur traders working for Samuel Hearst in 1819-20. The first European settler in what is now Oak Harbor was James Condon who arrived with his family in 1826 from Canada. He named his property "Condon's Landing". Other early families include the Herters, Cartwright, and Witherspoon. In 1870, John McLaughlin built a sawmill on the east side of Puget Sound near present day Olympia. This mill became one ofSnohomish County's largest employers until its closure in 1978. According to historian Don Freeman, "In 1893 [the town] had 1 post office and 5 businesses; by 1910 it had 3 post offices and 20 businesses." By 1928 there were only 8 residents living in town proper while over 100 people lived in surrounding villages including Everett and Seattle. Only 10% of population growth during this time took place within town limits; most growth occurred outside of it as well due to annexations by nearby municipalities such as Everett and Ballard (which included much larger populations). A local paper described how "today's youthful citizens move quickly between their homes hereabouts" with many young adults attending college or working on shorelines throughout their townships: As one resident put it: "There are no more woods hereabouts - our streets are build on sandbags!...It's not like when I was growing up back East where you could go out into your backyard without somebody looking for you." In 1990 new plans were drawn up for creating an urban village adjacent to existing Town Center which would have seen development of a high school, library/museum complexosa shopping mall with restaurants etc., additional housing developments as well as retail space along First Avenue SW adjacent to Interstate 5th Street SE
Oak Harbor is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Oak Harbor were Spanish traders who arrived in 1792 and named it San José de la Visita after their missionary father, Jose de la Visita. In 1851, railroad developer George Stephenson built the Tacoma and Eastern Railroad through Oak Harbor and renamed it the Seattle-Oak Harbor Railway. The town was incorporated on December 12, 1855. In 1901, Applebees (now KFC) opened its first restaurant in what is now downtown Oak Harbor. The company remains a major player in local foodservice today with over twenty locations worldwide across North America and Europe. In 1967, Japanese businessman Hiroshi Matsubara established his Matsubara Paper Company here which became one of the largest paper companies in North America before folding in 1990 due to competition from lower cost American companies such as Texaco and Kraft Heinz. Today there are several small businesses that still operate out of the original buildings including a pet store/breeder shop/grocery store called Daycare Junction (which has since closed), an antique store/library called Hickory Hollow Branch Library (closed), and a post office which offers mail services only until late morning or during special events like Christmas or Thanksgiving
