Crouch's store was an important factor in helping develop what would become known as "the gourmet coffee industry" in Oak Harbor- not only did he sell high-quality beans, but he also developed unique cuppa shops that served up unique blends of coffee from all over the world at his stores throughout the years.

Oak Harbor is a small town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Oak Harbor were fur traders who became stranded on Orcas Island during a winter party in 1811-12. In 1815, Captain John Waddell and his ship "Natchez" landed on Orcas Island after sailing around North America for two years looking for new land to explore. They named their island "Oak Harbor" after then-Governor Nicholas Hervey of Georgia recommended the name because he saw an oak tree growing near shore on the island. The first settler in Oak Harbor was Amos Bicknell, who arrived in 1826 with his family from Massachusetts. He built a log cabin and operated a ferry service between Orcas Island and Seattle until 1830. By that time, most of the Islanders had left for various reasons - many due to gold prospecting (the island had no gold ore), others because of disease brought by sailors on their round trip from Asia to sell goods at Puget Sound ports. In 1836, George Burgess bought land east of present day Oak Harbor from Dutchman Cornelis Janszoon van den Berght for $1 million dollars and laid out streets and houses according to English plans developed by David Lloyd Garrison while working as an architect in London. The townsite designation was given by postmaster general James Kapp when he laid out street grids perpendicular to Alaskan Highway 99 which ran through downtown Seattle at that time In 1840, Burgess unsuccessfully petitioned Kapp for incorporation intoSeattle; instead it became part of Tacoma without having gone through annexation process as required by state law On April 6th 1861 President Abraham Lincoln signed Executive Order 922 creating Kitsap county within Washington Territory following its admission into Union as one nation That same year Harry Emerson Fosdick purchased 640 acres west of town along Lake Stevens Boulevard which included much of what is today Oak Harbor including both its harbor and present day commercial areas . Fosdick renamed his tract "Fremont Heights" in honor of General Ulysses S Grant who served as commander-in-chief during the American Civil War .
