The United States Air Force has a rich history in Pasco, Washington. The city was home to the first airfield in the Northwest Territories and it came into being as a result of an agreement between Canada and the United States following World War I. The airfield served as a training ground for American pilots during the war and it also became an important base for aerial bombardment of enemy targets. After the war, the federal government decided to construct an airfield in Pasco. Work on the project began in 1924 and it finally opened its doors to passengers and cargo on May 15, 1928. The airport played an important role in American aviation during World War II and it was from here that fighter planes were flown off towards Japan. Since then, Pasco has been host to several USAF installations including Maurer-Norman AFB from 1945 until its closure in 1992; Wright-Patterson AFB from 1947 until its closure in 1999; Pope AFB from 1957 until its closure in 1987; Goldsboro Municipal Airport from 1959 until its closing in 1984; Elmira Municipal Airport from 1962 until its closure in 2000; Ramey AFB from 1966 until its closure in 1988; Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station from 1969 until its closing in 1996; Whiteman AFBfrom 1973 until hisClosurein1997). In addition, numerous other USAF units have been stationed throughout Pasco over the years including Randolph AFB (1957-1959), Birch Hill AFB (1983-1985), Ellsworth AB (1991-1994), Boeing Facility (2002-2003) – all located within or adjacent to present day Phillips Army Medical Center/Pasco Regional Medical Center complex on State Street just east of downtown Pasco. Today, there are more than 4500 military personnel stationed at various USAF facilities located throughout Oregon and Washington with a primary focus on homeland security operations under Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additionally, Navy SEALs operate out of Naval Station Puget Sound’s Seahawks Island detachment which is also responsible for conducting maritime patrols along both coasts of North America

The Washington Air National Guard's 1st Fighter Wing is the largest air force in the United States with over 451 squadron members. The wing has a long history of donating items and services to various organizations, including the Pasco County Sheriff's Department. In 1938, when the wing was established as a provisional unit, it donated two Spitfires to the sheriff's department. In 1952, when the wing became an official unit, it donated four F-84 Thunderjets to the department. In 1986, when 1st Fighter Wing moved from Shaw AFB in Ontario Canada to Eglin AFB in Florida, it donated three C-141 Globemasters to Eglin AFB. In 1996, when 1st Fighter Wing moved back to Shaw AFB in Ontario Canada after more than 20 years of occupancy at Eglin AFB in Florida, it donated one KC-135 Stratotanker and six E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft to Shaw AFB. In 2002, when 1st Fighter Wing moved back again after more than 25 years of occupancy at Shaw AFB in Ontario Canada (and during its time stationed at Northrop Grumman/EADS Field Operations Center), it gifted one A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog fighter jet and 12 Boeing 767 Airliners (all delivered by Northwest Airlines) to Eglin AFB for use by both USAF and NATO forces on joint operations worldwide.
Pasco, Washington is a city in King County, Washington. As of the 2010 census, its population was 97,798. The Pasco metropolitan area has a population of nearly 200,000 people and includes all of King County as well as parts ofSnohomish and Pierce counties. Pasco is home to the University of Washington and the Snohomish Nation Tribal Park. The first non-native Europeans to visit what is now Pasco were the Juan de Fuca Expedition in 1792-93. A store on Second Avenue was built in 1854 by James Smeaton (), one of the early settlers hereabouts. In 1881 Captain George Vancouver explored Puget Sound and named it Nisqually Bay after his assistant Lieutenant John Nisqually () aboard HMS Discovery while waiting for resources at Mount St Helens to be collected during his voyage around America that year. At about the same time (1881), James Smeaton organized what became known as "The First Tacoma Agricultural Society" which did agricultural research on land donated by farmers from Tacoma and neighboring townships (). In 1906, incorporation as a city occurred when Seattle's City Council moved annexation proposals from other cities into an orderly process under then Mayor Robert Denny (). The move followed recommendations made by a committee chaired by Judge Arthur Jarrell (). On January 3, 1907, voters approved incorporation with a population of 397 residents (). The original downtown business district included Third Avenue SW (now Pioneer Square), Seventh Avenue SW (now Union Station Road), First Street NW (now Union Station Way) between Second and Fourth Avenues NW (), Northwest corner lot on Center Street NE (), south side of Pacific Highway (), east side lot on Northeast corner street NE (). Pasco annexed portions of Everett, Bothell, Lynnwood and Edmonds Counties in 1961 following passage by Seattle's City Council of an ordinance authorizing annexation without community vote (). The annexation provided services such as libraries (Libraries District #1) and fire protection (District #2). In addition to annexed areas there are several small rural municipalities located within pascoalites boundaries: Alta Vista Township northwest corner lots Nos. 5 & 6 upon intersection with I-5; Auburn Hills Township northeast corner lot No. 8; Blaine Township southeast corner lot No. 9; Clyde Valley Township northwest corner lot No . 10; Granite Bay Borough southwest corner lot No 11; Heceta Island Borough southeast corner lots Nos 12 & 13; Kennewick Borough southwest corner lots Nos 14 & 15.; Moses Lake Borough northeast corner lots Nos 16 & 17.; Newcastle Townships east side Lots Nos 1 & 2northwest Corner LotNo 4 ; Okanogan Townships northeast CornerLots Nos 5&6southwest CornerLotNo 7 ; Poulsbo Townships northwest CornerLots Nos 8&9northwest CornerLotNo 10 ; RavennaVillage south side Lots Nos 11&12northwest Corner LotNo 15 ; RichlandTownship southeast CornerLotNo 16 ; SammamishTownship southwest CornerLotNo 17 (); SeaTacTownship southeast CornerLot NO 21stStreetSW ); Whitefish Bay Borough northeast cornerslot No 22ndStreetSE ) It should be noted that not all annexations resulted in increased Crime or Population growth - some only added services such as fire protection while others brought about changes in demographics such as increasing Hispanic/Latino populations adjacent to Pasco proper which often led to tension between these groups over issues like housing access or zoning changes . For example , Issaquah annexed Unalaska but this did not lead to any increase crime rates despite nearby Whitefish Bay having higher median incomes than Issaquah
