The Pasco National Guard has been serving the community in Washington since 1903. The guard was organized on December 5, 1903 as a military force to protect local citizens and property during the first week of Christmas. On November 25, 1907, the Pasco National Guard became an appointed branch of the military with a headquarters at Camp Pierce in Tacoma. The original members of the guard were men from Pasco and other surrounding towns who volunteered to fight for their country during World War I. The Guard now numbers over 14,000 active duty members and reserve members from all 50 states/ Territorial Districts across America. Today’s Pasco National Guard is made up of men and women from individuals in all walks of life who are committed to their service to our country. It’s through this organization that we have responded quickly and effectively when called upon to support our local community – whether it be providing law enforcement protection or being available for emergency response services such as search & rescue missions or natural disasters. In addition, our unit enjoys many unique privileges which include being one of only two volunteer organizations in Washington State allowed to wear full dress uniforms while performing ceremonial functions within the state government (the other is the Jaycee Unit). One of the most significant moments in Guards history came on October 15th, 1944 when General George Custer was killed during World War II at an airfield near Seattle. At that time, officers and enlisted men of both branches united in grief as they conducted a public funeral throughout much of America including Pasco where thousands participated including Marines from nearby Base Camp Elliott Bay MCAS Puget Sound Naval Air Station (now known as Sea-Tac Airport). The Guardsmen also flew into Spokane for a daylong parade honoring General Custer's memory before returning home that night with medals and honors!

Pasco is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Downtown Pasco is home to the Pasco County Courthouse and several other buildings dating back to 1892. The first European settler in what would become Pasco was George woodbury, who arrived in 1792 with his family from Connecticut. The name "Pasco" originated with Juan de Pasco, captain of an expedition led by Spanish explorer Pedro Menéndez de Avila across the North American continent in 1579-1580. The first stores were established in 1834 by James Noyes and Wm Henshaw on East Second Street. In 1851, Andrew Jenson opened a store on First Avenue SW which became known as "Jensen's." This store closed in 1865 when John Purdy took over and made his own store at 222 South Main Street which eventually became known as "Purdy's". In 1907, Des Moineseely Brothers started a bakery on West Third Place NW which became well-known throughout the region for its bread products such as Danish (now iconic), rolls and cake mixes. They continued to operate until 1919 when they moved into their present location behind Pesky's department store on West Fourth Place NW. In 1935, Denny & Benny bought out Des Moineseely Brothers' interest and continued to run the business under their own name until it merged with that of Safeway Stores Incorporated in 1978. Today, Safeway operates two flagship stores - one located downtown Pasco (in former Purdy's building) and another near Issaquah Highlands Mall - as well as numerous hypermarkets throughout Pierce County including King Soopers/7-Elevens along I-405 south of Tacoma and JCPenney/ Sears around Everett Way SW near Bellevue Market Square shopping center open since 1997 adjacent to Boeing Field Airport/. Other big box retailers include Toys 'R' Us (opened 1990), Macy's (opened 1974), Sears Holding Co., Roebuck & Co., Ltd./ Kmart/ Kauffman Centers Incorporated (1973) among others Note: These are all company names only; brands have been changed or omitted where relevant

Pasco, Washington is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 943 at the 2010 census and it is the county seat of King County. It was founded in 1853 by Captain John C. Pasco and his wife, Mary Ann Smith Pasco. The city was named after Pasco's hometown of Pascagoula, Mississippi. The first white people to live in what is now Pasco were Captains John C. and Mary Ann Smith Pasco who arrived there on March 1st, 1853 from Kentucky with their family. They had just crossed the Cascade Mountains into Oregon when they sighted this vast tract of land that looked like paradise; they named their new town Pascagoula after the local river where they had been swimming as children. After a few years of settlement and trade with other tribes in present-day King County, Captain John C. Pasco built a log cabin on what is now Third Street and suffered death from smallpox while serving as its first doctor in 1857 at the age of 36 years old! In 1865 Captain William Broughton purchasedCaptain John C. Pascoe’s house on Fourth Street for $500 which became one of only two houses remaining standing west of University Avenue (now Blaine Avenue) until demolition began in 1966 to make way for Interstate 5! In 1870 JOSEPHINE MCDONOUGH HUGHES moved to Tacoma from Ohio with her four children under five years old and started an agricultural business raising chickens on her farmstead located near milepost 7 on Highway 99E about 3 miles east of modern day downtown Pasco - today's Old Town Chinatown! Her eggs remain some of the most popular eggs ever offered anywhere! By 1880 Mrs Hughes’ property had been sold to WMILFRED LYONS who farmed there until 1893 when he leased it to WALTER ELLIOTT who operated a brewery until 1912 when he sold it to GEORGE HOWARD FORBES who operated it as THE FOSTER CITY Brewery until 1945 when it closed due World War II operations although still extant today as KING COUNTY BEVERAGE COOPERATIVE! For many years PriorToWWII Foster City Brewery produced KING COUNTY FAIR DISTRIBUTION MAGAZINE & WIFE'S DAY BOOK which remains published annually today by Pioneer Press Incorporated! That same year FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN MINDS was organized within THE FOSTER CITY BOYS CLUBwhich later evolved into KINGS COUNTY CHURCH WITHIN THE KING COUNTY SYNDICATE OF RELIGION IN 1951 !!! In 1955 KINGS COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 WAS FORMED FROM A CONFESSIONAL CHURCH MEETING TO PROVIDE EDUCATION FOR ALL AGES AS AUTHORIZED BY STATE LAW!! In 1957 KINGDOM HEBREW LANGUAGE INSTITUTE WAS ANNOUNCED & OPERATED BY HIS HOLINESS DR JOHN SUSANO D/B/A JOHN SUSANO'S JEWISH SCHOOLS INC!!!! During those early days THERE WERE NO TV OR RADIO STATIONS IN PASCO BUT TODAY WE HAVE THREE PLACES WHICH ARE AN IMPORTANCE TO OUR COMMUNITY MAKING US ONE OF THE GREATEST AMERICAN cities !!! Today we are grateful for all that our great city has endured thru history including: pioneer spirit; strong faith traditions;overwhelming entrepreneurialism;and numerous cultural experiences that have enriched our lives!!!
The Pasco-Hoquiam area has a long and varied history. The first European to explore the region was Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez de la Rúa in 1579. A later influx of French explorers followed, and by 1776, the British had also arrived. The area was part of the Northwest Territory until 1853, when it became part of the United States of America. In 1959, it became a town within Pasco County. As more people moved into the area in recent years, growth has occurred in both employment and quality of life.
