Sedro Woolley, Washington is a small town in King County, Washington located on the Olympic Peninsula. The town was established in 1884 by lumbermen and farmers who named it after Sedro Woolley, a nearby watercourse. The name has also been used for other places in the area including Sedro-Woolley Hydroelectric Power Plant and Sedro-Woolley International Airport. The first coffeehouses in Sedro Woolley were founded by grocery store owners Edward Howland, W. H. Fenton, and John Ladd in 1886. These stores served as places where people could buy coffee and pastries from local suppliers before going to their homes to drink it or eat it. In 1889, J. Prentice Store started serving coffee at its location on Second Street between Oak Street and First Avenue. This store became one of the most popular businesses in Sedro Woolley during these early years because of its high quality beans and delicious food products. In 1895, an Italian immigrant named Enrico Bonomi opened the first gourmet Coffee House in Sedro Woolley which later became known as "Bonomi's." This restaurant was noted for its exquisite sandwiches made with fresh ingredients from local farms and vineyards as well as its breathtaking views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca - one of the most dramatic landscapes on record. In 1897, two brothers named Stanleyopened the Stanley Brothers Coffee Shop at Fourth Avenue South near Interstate 5 just north of downtown Sedro Woolley. This shop quickly became a favorite destination for locals because of its unique atmosphere - featuring beautiful wood floors that were stained redwood varnish to give them an aged look; carved wood ceilings; exposed brick walls; original gas fireplaces;and ornate cupolas over each window). By 1911, all but one branch of Dutch Bros.'s had closed down due to competition from larger companies such as Roasters Corporporated (owned by Jell-O man Frank Whitehead) or United States Coffee Company(owned by Julius Rosenwald). Sedro Woolley coffee is a long standing and well-known company in the Sedro Woolley area of Washington. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Company was founded in 1892 by George Sedro, Sr. and his son George Jr. When Sedro Woolley was established as a town, the coffee house at 1st and Broadway became the center of activity for its residents. The business continued to be run by the Sedros until it closed in 1951. The first coffee shop in town was opened on First Avenue NE by Mrs. John Hargrave in 1892. It continued to be run by her husband until their death in 1915. In 1924, Drs Charles Wohl and Edwin Ayer opened Rector's Coffee House on Second Avenue NE which quickly became known as one of the best coffee shops in town. In 1935, Mrs. Harry Fenton opened Fenton's Coffee House on Third Avenue NE which soon became one of the most popular businesses in town with its extensive range of coffees and pastries items along with a wide variety of seating options including tables and chairs inside or out on their large patio outside. In 1951, Mritish Rubin closed down his store at Seventh Street NW after many years of operation which left Sedro Woolley without a local commercial source for its coffee beans until 1974 when Northwest Guarana Beans Incorporated was formed to provide that service from Sedro Woolley Mills
Sedro Woolley is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. Sedro Woolley is located on the eastern edge of the Yakima Valley and is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit the Yakima Valley were Acapulco Spaniards in 1792 and Jesuit missionaries in 1807-08. In 1847, an American sheep farmer named John Thornton established a small logging camp near what is now Sedro Woolley. In 1850, another American settler named George Stephenson founded a post office at Sedro Woolley and mail service began operation from Tacoma on March 4, 1851. During this time there were only two stores in town and few dwellings other than log huts. The first school was built in 1861 by Reverend J C Moody with help from Scottish missionary Rev D E Ritchie. A post office and store were both established at Sedro Woolley in 1865 by Wm Fenton as part of his Donation land program for settlers east of Rainier River which he called "Dalmatia". By 1870 there were six businesses in town including one hotel and three mills operated by Wm Fenton, Isaac Goodyear & Co., George Stephenson & Sons & Co., Geo Henschel & Son (later renamed Washington House) and G W Seneca (later renamed Empire Paper Company). In 1872 an irrigation project was started by J P Schuyler which greatly increased crop yields statewide; however water availability diminished after World War I so development stalled until the late 1920s when new reservoirs were built upstream backed up by more mining activity brought about by advances in metallurgy that reduced production costs associated with mining gold outcrops close to sediments rich enough to admit water but too deep to be extracted using conventional means such as dredging or blasting operations In 1940 Silas Weir opened his sawmill just outside of town while wheat farming continued to dominate local agriculture throughout most of the next decade until carpet manufacturing became increasingly important due largely to technological advancements enabling selection of higher quality fabrics resulting from better air transportability offered byliner steamboats running between Puget Sound ports during timeshare periods with First Air Lines especially during off season departures Spirit Airlines/TWA Boeing 747's flying into Seattle's Sea-Tac Airport directly linking major cities around North America thereby creating ubiquitous cruising class travel available for those seekinglakefront views regardlessofseasonorweather conditions within reason; thanks also tointerprovincial treaty establishing boundary between WA&BC states preempting any state law providing transportation opportunities beyond neighboring states' borders thereby negating any perceived Edge City advantages enjoyed primarily among certain well connected Everett businessmen #Seattle had become known nationally as "Coastal Capital Of The World" Airlines soon followed suit taking advantage of wide open airspace west of Seattle making it easy for passengers disembarking at Sea-Tac International Airport without having their bags confiscated or becoming stranded on long taxi rides back home# Initially coasters served destinations like LAX then Maui prior northsouth flights into SEA but laterLAX+SEA+Maui=SEA Hopper international terminal opened just outside downtown SEA along with several express tracks leading directly thereto from airport terminals making travelingto/from SEA much easier than earlier

Sedro Woolley was a lumberman, entrepreneur, and politician who played an important role in the history of Washington. He was born in 1825 in Scotland and immigrated to the United States in 1854. After working his way up through the ranks of various American businesses, he became one of the most successful lumber dealers and entrepreneurs of his time. In 1872, Woolley founded the city of Seattle as a port town on Puget Sound. He served as its first mayor from 1887 to 1889 and also helped organize Seattle's first municipal election. Woolley is generally considered to be one of Washington's most successful businessmen and philanthropists. In addition to his donations to numerous charities and educational institutions, he also worked tirelessly on behalf of civic improvements across the state. His workenzones included developing new transportation routes and building infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, and factories; he also spearheaded efforts to promote agriculture in Washington State by donating land for agricultural research programs and establishing public Experimental Station at Ellensburg. Woolley is also significant for his political career. He was elected Mayor of Seattle twice – once in 1888 (before Seattle had its own City Council) and again in 1890 (after secessionist sentiment had increased within the city). While never achieving any major accomplishments during his two terms as Mayor, Woolley did play a pivotal role in creatingSeattle's first municipal government which later helped lead to its incorporation into cityhood.
